OMG!!! Guys, this book was awesome!!

Tall, Tatted, and Tempting was a sweet, sexy and very moving story with a wonderful balance of humor, steam, and also heartfelt, emotional depth! I really loved it!

A friend of mine actually recommended it to me and after reading this section of the blurb, I knew this was one I had to check out….

“Logan Reed is tall, tatted and tempting. Kit’s a woman with a mean right hook and a secret. Kit wants a tattoo, but Logan sees more than she intends to share in the drawing of the tat she wants. He sees her in ways no one ever has. Logan’s not disabled; but he hasn’t spoken in eight years. He hasn’t needed to. Until he meets Kit.”

As it hinted there, we learn in the first scene that the hero of the story, Logan, was tall and gorgeous but also deaf and hadn’t spoken to anyone since he was 13. He ran a tattoo parlor with his four brothers which was where he was working in the opening scene. And then a girl walked in asking for a very specific tattoo and he felt drawn to her in a way he’d never once felt before….

“Most people would see the beauty of that drawing. But I see pain. I see things she probably wouldn’t want anyone to see.”

Ok, at this point, even though I was smiling, I totally thought I could tell where the story was going… But then, about one minute into their interaction, this girl punched him in the face and walked out the door!!!!

OMG!! That was it. With that scene, I was hooked me! The opening chapter alone had made me smile, surprised me, and intrigued me to want to know more about the characters.

So…  Logan wasn’t able to stop thinking about her and finally tracked her down to the last place on earth he thought to find her — homeless and playing music on the streets to make enough money to get by.

“Does she own a coat? I wish I’d given her mine. I follow her. I can’t help it. I need to see where she’s going, or I won’t be able to find her again. Not to mention that her being alone in the night in the city scares the shit out of me.”

And he insisted she comes home with him to stay with him and his brothers. While she was grateful for the place to stay, she was not the kind of girl to just accept charity and her past had taught her not to trust anyone so she kept a lot back from Logan and felt unable to trust him with her secrets. But luckily, he understood and was falling for her hard enough to make her worth the wait….. 🙂

“I want to lick you all over and make you cry out my name and swear you see God, I want you to trust me. And you don’t. Not Yet. But you might one day.”

I’ll let you discover the rest of the story for yourselves from this point on because it’s more fun that way so all I’ll say is that I loved the whole overall storyline and was totally wrapped up in it.

The writing was so addictive!! I literally started the book and even though it was a full length novel, I was at 12% before I knew it — I didn’t even realize how many pages I’d been quickly flipping!

Now, given that Logan lived with his four brothers, there was a helluva lot of testosterone and general male awesome going around. Their parents weren’t in their lives, so they’d developed a very tight-knit bond — they always had each other’s backs and each one of them would have been willing to give up anything for the other. I was in Alpha male heaven!! Plus, they were downright hilarious 😀

“I go get another beer, and Paul glares at me like the time I let the toilet lid fall on his dick when he was seven and I was four.”

I loved each one of them and also loved they all had their own story to tell. I loved Paul & Hayley, I laughed over the twins, my heart bled for Matt, and it melted for Logan.

Logan was just a dream. What an absolute sweetheart of a guy!!! He tugged my heart strings and had me fanning myself over and over and over again! He was the kind of guy that is impossible not to fall for. But what stood out most to me about him though was his personality. There’s something about the tattooed ex-manwhore who falls for this one special girl that makes me swoon. And Logan just had the biggest heart and had a very distinctive, memorable quality to him. I loved that I could feel how strongly he was falling for her and I loved that he made my heart flutter with almost anything he did.

And the heroine was also totally awesome as well — what a badass chick!! It was so nice to see a female character who was able to defend herself, didn’t blink once about punching a guy twice her size in the nose and just who didn’t take any shit from anyone. But she was also incredibly kind, loving, and caring and over the course of this story proved how she was willing to sacrifice anything for the people she loved.

It was so cute and endearing watching Logan and Kit get to know each other and I especially loved the way sign language was incorporated into the story. I also really appreciated that he didn’t let anything stupid get between them and was willing to be patient while he waited for her to learn to trust him. But… that didn’t mean he didn’t want more 😉

“I want to be your friend,” I say.

“I want you to be my girlfriend.”

“What does that mean?” ….

He looks confused. “I’m not sure. But I think it’s the same as being my friend, but I get to make you come.”

I also absolutely adored all the interactions and connections between the characters. The way the author described all the little details, actions and thoughts brought the story to life so vividly in my mind. I laughed with them, swooned and even cried! Honestly, even though the writing style and story were completely different, it almost reminded me in a way of Kristen Ashley’s books just in the sense of how strongly I was drawn into every little interactive detail. This was definitely one of the highlights of the book for me.

Also, the book took me completely by surprise with a very emotional turn of the story in the second half that actually made me wipe tears away while I was reading. The emotions hit me strongly and brought an added depth to the overall story, really rounding everything out.

Overall, I’d say this was a sweet, well written, wonderful story that just drew me right in and kept me connected. It had great characters and plenty of steam and fun, but was also balanced out by a lot of heartfelt emotion. It was a full length novel, but also a quick, easy read. I loved it the whole way through and would totally recommend you check it out!!

This is the first of a series called “The Reed Brothers”. The second book is focused on the same couple as this book so the ending does leave you immediately wanting to read the next book. Luckily, that book has already been released, and also, even if you don’t have time to read both books immediately, there is a bonus “first chapter” from the second book at the end of this one that will answer the one major question that you were left with so really, I’d call it a very “safe-to-start” book 🙂

** NOTE: Both Books #1 + 2 focus on the same couple. Even though in the blurbs, the heroine’s name is different, they are the same girl. She just doesn’t tell him her real name til the end of the first one even though the reader knows it. So, Kit + Emily are the same person. I just don’t want you to worry that the hero is with two different girls in a row because that’s not the case.

I’d had this book on my reading list for a while now because several readers had recommended it to me and since the sequel, Finding Joy, was recently released, I decided that now was the perfect time to try it out!

I don’t want to give away anything here so I’ll try and only give you a general idea of what the story is about…  The heroine, Alexis, is a career driven woman with a past that has been blocked out of her memory — an incident too traumatic to remember. But what she doesn’t know when she bumps into the hero, Adam, is that not only does he know her from her past but he also remembers everything and he is out for revenge! The only thing he didn’t count on was falling in love with the person he wanted to hurt…

Even from the first page I was intrigued. Check out this quote:

“And that’s when I saw her. It had been almost 10 years. My heart fell a little at the thought that 10 years had actually passed. I’d always known that she was here, but I’d never sought it out. It was practically mandatory that I’d keep her distance…. I recognized her immediately. hers was a face I would know anywhere and a face I would never forget.”

It kinda begs you find out more, does it not? Clearly they had a connection but… what was it? What was it that he remembered but she didn’t? … These were the questions that kept me going.

Adam was dark, brooding, charming and utterly mysterious but… with a bit of a dangerous edge to him too. He was fuelled by a build-up of ten years of anger and hurt.

“I’d thought about her every day for the last 10 years. A part of me wanted to walk away and spend the next 10 years trying to forget her.”

Alexis on the other hang was convinced that happiness was not in her future and she threw herself into her work as much as possible instead ….

“I knew better. The fairytale ending wasn’t in the cards for me. I wouldn’t even let myself go there.”

Thankfully, this story was told in alternating POVs — given the secrecy, it was a much needed element to have both sides of the story there and it was so interesting to see how much each of their realities did not match up with the other.

I will say that there were times when his obsession over her and just some of the things he did were borderline creepy and hovered precariously on the “acceptable” line. However, I didn’t get creeper vibes off him ever so that’s what kept him in my good graces in the beginning. That and an overpowering curiosity to know why the hell he hated her so much because really seemed like a good guy deep down.

“Who’s the bad guy in this scenario,” I whispered.
“Sometimes it’s hard to tell, but I think I am.”

So… about the reason why he hated her — I obviously won’t tell you what it is but I did figure it out relatively soon and I actually think that might have made me enjoy parts of the story more by giving me a better insight into him. Because otherwise his actions really would have been creepy without context. He was a man set on revenge and intent on causing her pain while at the same time falling in love with her. Those two emotional sides of him were such polar opposites that seeing him wrestle with them almost made my head spin at times. Very “hot/cold”. But, I guess that’s what happens when you fall for the person you secretly hate.

“Forgiving was not forgetting, and I’d never been able to forget.”

In the interest of full honesty though, I will say that while I did enjoy the book, there were some parts that were just a little slow for me. It’s not that I wasn’t interested, but I did find it easy to put down in places. There were also a few things here and there that I kind of squinted my eyes at a little and went ‘hmmmm’. And I did also wish that the love scenes had been a little more “there”. It’s not something that I feel always needs to be in a story but it was just something I missed a little in this one.

That being said, I loved that the book had a very different plotline than most and I cared about the characters. I enjoyed a lot of the writing — there were fun lines in there like “I was only two Americanos into my stake out when…” and a few scenes that had me laughing right out loud.

There isn’t a cliffhanger per se because things are happy at the end, but it leaves you with a lot of questions still unanswered. Luckily though, the sequel is out now and you can read straight through! The sequel tells the conclusion to Alexis and Adam’s story 🙂
