I never thought I’d see her again.
My Cinderella didn’t leave me a shoe to find her.
Not that I’d need random footwear to recognize her.
Her kiss is something I’ll never forget…
This was such a cute, light, and fun read with the sweetest romance that kept a constant smile on my face! It was exactly what I was searching for today. The writing was witty and fun without being outright hilarious, instead it just literally kept me smiling the whole the time I was reading, and there was thankfully no stupid drama at all. It had a swoony, chivalrous hero who rescued people professionally, but things turned personal (and hot!) when he rescued a girl who he fell for. What he didn’t remember though was that they’d actually met one night two years ago…
While I do like to read a whole range of romance books, my heart tends to lie with the more emotional type of books. I love stories that’ll rip my heart out and then put it back together. However, I also love variety and I certainly can’t read ten of those more intense kinds of books back-to-back so I’m always on the look out for really great quality light-hearted romances with compelling writing, a strong connection between the characters, and an intriguing story that’ll hopefully just genuinely make me happy to be reading it. And that’s exactly what this book delivered.
Like I said, there was no unnecessary drama (and I am so impressed that the author didn’t just throw any drama in just to angst-up the book because it just didn’t need that). Instead, this was a complete “feel-good” romantic comedy that just honestly was a really enjoyable read and left me with a smile on my face!
The story is kind of a second chance romance — except the hero and heroine don’t know it at first! Two years ago, they’d spent a night together… Fast forward to the present day. The hero is working as a ski patrol rescuer and finds the heroine freaking out on the side of a black diamond hill and stops to help her. He’s sweet, kind, and while he’s rescuing her, she comes to the realization that she knows this guy — he’s her one-night-stand from two years ago. But… he doesn’t seem to remember her.
My savior isn’t prince charming.
I’m not that lucky.
He’s my worst nightmare.
He’s my one-night stand from two years ago.
And he doesn’t remember me.What happens on vacation doesn’t always stay on vacation. Especially in a place like Aspen. I moved to the mountains for my dream vet job. I never expected to run into the man of my dreams. Again.
So this is their story! I read it in one day, just coming back to it on-and-off throughout the day whenever I had time to read. And every time I picked it up, it made me smile. It was kind of an emotional palate cleaner for me. The last several books I’ve read have been more intense and so I was craving something exactly like this.
You can read this as a complete standalone. It’s told in first person perspective from alternating POVs. It’s also part of a series of standalones, but you genuinely can read it alone (I haven’t read the first standalone and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything at all). So if you’ve been looking for a light, cute, happy romance, definitely try this! 🙂
Rating: 4 stars. Adult Romance. Can standalone.
