Book Review — Playboy Pilot by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

I read this book in one sitting and absolutely ADORED it!! It was exactly what I was looking for: SWEET, SEXY, HEART-WARMING, ROMANTIC, ADDITIVE, and SWOOOOOONY!!! Oh my gosh, I loved the story so much!! From the moment I started reading, I was hooked. My heart raced and I couldn’t stop smiling! If you’re looking for something really fantastic to read and you love reading romance, then this is definitely the book you should try next. Carter will STEAL YOUR HEART!! I can’t recommend this book highly enough. A new TOP FAVORITE!

As I embarked on an impulsive trip, I hit a detour when I met sexy Carter in the airport lounge. We struck up a heated conversation.

Then, he left.

I thought I’d never see him again.
But fate had other plans.
Surprise! He was the pilot of my flight.
The bigger surprise was the adventure that followed after the plane landed.

Carter was dangerous and always on the move. Even though our connection was magnetic, I knew it was only temporary. He would give me tickets, and I would follow him around the world to exotic places. A bevy of flight attendant exes and rumors about Carter’s reputation were never far behind. I didn’t know what to believe. But I was addicted. Nothing else mattered anymore. And I was going to get hurt. Because a part of me wanted to be the one to finally ground the playboy pilot. At the very least, he was taking me on a thrilling ride.

All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are each fantastic authors in their own rights and when they team up to write together, they produce pure gold!! Their writing is addictive and their stories grab your heart while being sexy-as-hell giving the ultimate romance reading experience! I love their books and eagerly away each new release!

This particular story starts out with our heroine sitting in an airport at a crossroads in her life with a big decision to make that’ll change a lot of things for her. With no destination in mind, she’s surprised when a sexy and mysterious stranger basically walks up and boldly offers his opinion on which country to visit (after spilling a drink on her lol)…

“Christ, are you not wearing a bra?”
“Actually, I’m not.”
He finally looked up. “Might I ask, why you’re at an airport with no bra on?”
Clearing my throat, I said, “I wanted to be comfortable on the flight. Plus… I don’t really need to wear one in general. Well, at least, I didn’t until you poured seltzer all over me! I wasn’t expecting a strange man to assault me with water.”
His eyeballs descended upon my chest again.
“Could you not stare at me like that?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t expecting…”
“To see me practically naked? You don’t say…”

They spark, but immediately have to go in separate directions and despite the craziness of their encounter, she throws caution to the win and takes his advice, only to discover that he is in fact the pilot on her flight!

After they land, this cocky, charming, unabashed, and oddly sweet guy sweeps her away on an amazing tour of Rio. With a looming deadline of only two days until he has to fly out again, they know their time together is limited. But when their time comes to an end, neither of them are willing to let the other go and so begins their spontaneous and sexy globe-trotting romance…

“I don’t know what the fuck is happening here, but when I thought you were gone, it felt way worse than it should’ve after only knowing someone for two days. So, I don’t know what this is. I just know I want more of it.”
He looked around then placed his hand on my waist, leading me into the cockpit and shutting the door behind us.
“I can’t believe you really came.” In an instant, I was against the wall as he pressed his lips hard against mine…

I absolutely loved Carter. LOVE LOVE LOVED him!!! His upfront and honest, no secrets, no bullshit approach to life was so refreshing. He wasn’t trying to hide anything, he certainly wasn’t trying apologize for his past, but at the same time, being around her brought out a side of him he’d long pushed away and he wanted to be ‘more’ for her. Everywhere they went, they were confronted with women he’d had relations with in the past which he didn’t try to hide from Kendall but at the same time he never gave her any reason to doubt his loyalty to her. He was devoted and I genuinely just loved the way he approached his relationship with her. He took responsibility for his past, but actively tried to make a better future.

“You went quiet on me. What are you thinking about?”
“To be honest, I’m wondering which Carter is the real you. The guy who slept on the floor in Rio without being asked because he knew I was too uncomfortable. Or the guy who shacks up with a different flight attendant each week.”
“I’m sort of confused about that myself, too. But I know which one I like better. I like myself better when I’m with you. I think you bring out the best in me, Kendall — a side I haven’t seen for a really long time. Kinda forgot that part of me even existed anymore until you got on my plane.”

Actually spinning off of that, I also loved the way they kind of both just opened up about their deepest secrets and fears to each other. So often in books, tension is wrought from secrets or lack of communication and it was just genuinely nice to see the opposite of that here. It made me respect the characters.

On a lighter note, this book is HOT HOT HOTTTTTT and will have you fanning yourself and blushing throughout the read! Not to mention that they had great banter and so many scenes had me smiling for pages on end!

“Can I see the cockpit?”
“There’s nothing more that I would rather do that show you my cockpit. I thought you’d never ask.”

Towards the end comes an inevitable twist that made my heart sink but the ending was just so SWEET and full of heart that it brought real happy tears to my eyes. Playboy past or not this pilot was the real hearts and flowers deal.

I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland outdid themselves with it!
This is definitely a must-read for every fan of romance!
