Book Review — Ravenous by M.S. Force

HOLY FREAKING HOTNESS!! I read this book in one sitting and absolutely loved it!! It was sexy, swoony, and oh-so-very-addictive!!! I didn’t want to put it down and seriously, it was HOT HOT HOT!!!!!! Marie Force’s writing style in this series perfectly rides those delicate lines between sweet, sexy, hilarious, emotional, and downright smoking hot in a way that delivers the ultimate romance reading experience. This is definitely a top favorite!

So this story is about Ellie who, after years of uneventful and borderline disastrous dating, has decided that she doesn’t need a man to complete her dreams of becoming a mother. But just when she’s about to turn to the sperm bank, Jasper, a sinfully sexy British playboy who her family has been friends with for years poses a tempting proposition. He’ll father the baby she wants as long as they make it the old-fashioned way. With no strings between them, he knows they’ll have a lot of fun along the way, and in the end she’ll get the baby she’s always dreamed of.

“And you’re sure you want to do it this way?”
“I’m sure this is the only way to do it in light of my perpetually single status.”
“It’s not the only way.”
I’m almost afraid to look at him, and when I do, the calculating look he gives me makes my skin heat with awareness of him. “What do you mean?”

Things weren’t quite so easy though. For starters, she was the sister of his best friend and business partner and out of respect he’d always considered her off limits. Next, his private BDSM lifestyle was simply not something he ever thought she’d be interested in. But it was such an integral part of his life that he always knew he could never be with someone who didn’t embrace that side of him too and it was so far removed from what he thought she’d be into that he just couldn’t see things working out romantically between them.

No matter how hard I try, I can’t picture Ellie Godfrey submitting to me or any other man. She’s not a sub, but I am a Dom… In any life other than the one I was born into, I’d want to marry a girl like Ellie and give her as many babies as she wants. But in my life, that’s simply not possible, and I fucking hate that reality.

And finally, he was hiding more than just his lifestyle from her. So for these reasons, he tried his best to keep his heart shielded and to maintain a more business-like approach to their agreement. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and before he knew it, she owned his.

“There you are,” he whispers, brushing the hair back from my face and leaning in to kiss me, “So sweet and so sexy at the same time, and so permanently out of reach.”
“Have you thought that? That I was out of reach.”
“Entirely out of reach for so many reasons.”

Now let me tell you guys, this book (this entire series in fact) is HOOOOOTTTTTT!!!! I actually think the Quantum books might be tied (no pun) with Fifty Shades and Crossfire for being some of the hottest series I’ve read! But to me, the most important thing is that this author really understands and respects that important balance in erotic romance between the emotional connection to the characters, the actual character development, and finally the sex.

And seriously, if you read this book, be prepared to SWOOOOOOOOON because Jasper is absolutely heart-meltingly sweet, protective, possessive, dominant, and just the way he cares for her is absolutely gorgeous! Please note though that this is a fully erotic BDSM romance so only go for this book if this is something you’re open to reading about.

“People have all kinds of fantasies,” he explains, “and in clubs such as this, they’re free to explore them in a safe, sane, consensual environment.”

The story is told in alternating POVs and in first person. You can read it as a standalone (separate from the series), but the side characters are interconnected throughout the series so you’ll see the couples from the previous books in this one. Even if you read this alone, you won’t be lost at all. My advice would be to either read this book alone, or to just start at the beginning and read them all through (first three books are about one couple, fourth book is another couple, and fifth book is yet another one). But honestly, you’ll be fine either way. Again, this book can standalone.

While you can read this book as a standalone, it was really awesome to see the whole Quantum gang come together. Whether or not you’ve read their stories, the way these guys come together as a family unit is so incredibly heart-warming. They have each others’ back no matter what, they’ll support each other through anything, and you just feel it without a doubt that they’re a solid unit.

And another thing that I loved about this book was that there was no stupid drama. There were some twists that surprised me (like Jasper’s family secret) but they were pleasant surprises and any drama that came into Ellie and Jasper’s lives just brought them closer together as they turned to each other for support throughout the ordeal. It was really nice to see characters take such a mature stand in the face of what they went through.

I cling to him, nuzzling my nose into his neck to breathe in the clean, crisp smell of his cologne. “We’re going to fight for this, Jasper. We’re going to fight with everything we have. I’ve waited my whole life for you. I’m not letting you go.”

There’s a great balance between sex and story in this book. It is crazy hot and it’ll definitely keep you swooning and fanning yourself from beginning to end. I absolutely loved the story and the ending was gorgeous!! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a sexy new romance to fall in love with!

Rating: 4.5 stars!! Can standalone. Erotic BDSM romance.
