“I’ll never get enough of you, Tru. Never,” he growls in my ear…“
Please note that this is the sequel to The Mighty Storm and is not a standalone.
Advance Copy review.
The Mighty Storm was quite honestly one of the best rock star romances I have ever read. It made my heart race and gave all the right amounts of every possible emotion and by the end of it, I’d fallen so in love with Jake and Tru that I just needed to see more of their story.
Wethering The Storm lived up to my every expectation and was the perfect ending to Jake and Tru’s story. It brought their journey full circle and ended on a beautiful note. Fans of TMS are in for a treat!
The first half of this book actually has almost a calm vibe to it and was considerably less angsty than the first book but after all the intense drama that Jake and Tru had just gone through, this was a welcome change of pace. They needed to take the time for them and they certainly deserved their moment of happy. But… things weren’t completely perfect and there were issues they had to work through that dealt with some of Jake’s biggest fears in life.
One of the things I loved about this book was that on one hand it was a rock star romance, but on the other it was just this gorgeous story of a guy and a girl who’d been in love with each other since they were kids.
The story took so much time to work through and deal with all the important personal and internal aspects of Jake and Tru’s relationship that there were time I’d almost forget he was this hugely world famous rock star and was just able to see him as Jake – a hot, sexy, sometimes troubled guy who was crazy for his girl.
“There is no one else for me. I begin and end with you.”
“You don’t complete me, Tru. You make me who I am. You make me better. I’d be nothing without you. Nothing. I’ve been there once before, and I’m never going back. I’m never losing you again.”
I really don’t want to say anything about the plot here but I know some of you have been worried about this one aspect of it so I’m going to lay your fears to rest here: Jake’s drug issue does not come up again in this book. It is referenced because it’s a part of his past but it is not a source of drama.
In fact, I’d actually say that this book had no unnecessary drama in it at all. The issues they faced were understandable and despite the fact that there certainly had bumps in the road and misunderstandings, I loved that no matter what, they were both so absolutely crazy in love with each other that it got them through anything – even some of their biggest fears and insecurities.
He walks to me. Taking my face in his hands, staring down at me, he whispers, “I’m not losing you, ever. I know I fuck up regularly, but I can’t fuck us up.”
A cool new thing about this book is that we get alternating POVs! It’s not a switch every chapter but we do get both sides of the story and I have to say that I really loved getting inside Jake’s head.
In the last quarter of the book, that quieter feeling I’d been talking about really got flipped right around because things got intense!!! Not in an angsty way though. No, we’re talking genuine heart-in-your-throat intensity – the kind that tugged my heart string and brought tears to my eyes more than once. I was right there just madly flipping pages desperate to see what would happen. Totally absorbed in their story.
The ending was just beautiful. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to their story. It wrapped up all the loose ends and left me with a wonderfully satisfied feeling. I was overflowing with happiness by the end and the last line was just perfect. Utterly perfect. It brought their story right back to the beginning while also completing it. I totally loved it.
If you loved The Mighty Storm, you will definitely love this one too!
This is truly one of my most favorite rock star series. It’s passionate, hot, emotional and just makes my heart race even thinking of it. Everyone needs to meet and fall in love with Jake Wethers ♥
My personal recommendation is to re-read TMS before starting this. WTS literally begins right after TMS ends and honestly, if you look at the two books as a whole, this one really counterbalances the first one so I think that it would be best to go straight from the first book into the second if you have the time.
Oh, and finally, Tom’s book is next and his story gets set up by the end of this one so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what’s in store for him… and to see what his future girlfriend is going to think of his new tattoo 😉
