Closing our 22-22-22 Author-a-thon is one of everyone’s most favorite authors Colleen Hoover!! Guys, I can’t tell you just how much LOVE I have for her books.
Slammed and Point of Retreat are two of the most beautiful, powerful and honestly, just plain perfect books I have ever read. Its totally unsurprising that they both got movie deals this year! 🙂
And I’m sure by now you have all heard of or read Colleen’s brand new, utterly breathtaking book HOPELESS which was released last week and has already made it #1 on Amazon. This book absolutely blew me away!!

Writer. Mother. Ninja. Wife. Avett Fanatic. Hardcore Realist.
I’m addicted to and seriously floored by the talent of The Avett Brothers band, which is obvious in both of my books. They are 99% of my playlist. The other 1% being Eminem and Jason Mraz.
I love lindor truffles (the white ones with the chips inside) and have an unhealthy addiction to diet pepsi. A serious addiction.
I get stoked whenever I get a message from goodreads saying I have a new friend request…so request me, dangit!
Colleen lives in Texas with her husband and their three boys. She released her debut novel, SLAMMED, in January 2012 and the follow-up novel, POINT OF RETREAT, in February, 2012. Both books have been optioned for film as of October, 2012.

“And once again in my new world full of heartache and lies,
this hopeless boy somehow finds a way to make me smile.”
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder: A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.
My spoiler-free review of HOPELESS
(One of the best books of 2012!)
“Fuck all the firsts, Sky. The only thing that matters to me with you are the forevers.”
Falling in love can feel like poetry. Or it can feel like a slam to the heart.
Colleen Hoover’s romantic, emotion-packed debut novel unforgettably captures all the magic and confusion of first love, as two young people forge an unlikely bond before discovering that fate has other plans for them.
Following the unexpected death of her father, eighteen-year-old Layken becomes the rock for both her mother and younger brother. She appears resilient and tenacious, but inside, she’s losing hope. Then she meets her new neighbor Will, a handsome twenty-one-year-old whose mere presence leaves her flustered and whose passion for poetry slams thrills her.
Not long after a heart-stopping first date during which each recognizes something profound and familiar in the other, they are slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together and the forces that tear them apart. Only through the poetry they share are they able to speak the truth that is in their hearts and imagine a future where love is cause for celebration, not regret.

“I got schooled this year
by
a
Boy.
a boy that I’m seriously,
deeply, madly, incredibly,
and undeniably in love
with.
And he taught me the most
important thing of all …
To put the emphasis
On life.”
These are a few questions that our readers wanted to ask Colleen.
Colleen ~ No. The way I write is sort of odd. I had no clue from chapter to chapter what was going to happen next. When I was writing the first chapter of Slammed, I had no idea she was going to have a neighbor until she pulled up in her driveway. It’s fun that way, because I feel like I’m watching a movie in my own head and I have no clue what comes next!
This giveaway is for a *SIGNED* Paperback copy of Hopeless.
It is open internationally.
Good luck everyone!!

I try to only read books that I don’t have to *think* with (I just don’t have it in me to concentrate, I use reading to wind down and escape lol) But this book was well beyond that. It was one of those books that really resonated with me in a way that I needed and didn’t even know I needed. I am sure that I will carry the messages I took from it for a very long time.

I got a nook for Xmas and the first book I came across was hopeless. I could not put it down and finished it in a day. ( it was that good ) so I thought I would give her other 2 books a go. I was not let down . She is by far the best writer I have come across in a long time. Can not wait to read more of her work x happy new year all 🙂

I just finished Slammed last night (at 1:00 a.m.!) and LOVED it. I was crying so much. I was reluctant to read it because most poetry is over my head but the slam poetry was beautiful and so emotionally evocative. Thanks for the giveaway!
