I decided to post a little recap list of all the books I reviewed in April. There were lots of really great finds this past month and a lot of very unique and “different” storylines (which are my favorite kind) so there are many options here to choose from!! Happy reading everyone!! 🙂
And, if you’re looking for the latest new releases & sales, check out this list!
The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller by L.B. Simmons (My Review)
This was one of the best standalone books I’ve read!!!! In the same vein as The Sea of Tranquility and Hopeless, this story will have you laughing one moment and wiping tears the next as these endearing characters take you on a heart warming, deeply emotional journey filled with romance, drama, and humour. Truly, this book had it all. A must-read for everyone!!
Room For You (Cranberry Inn #1) by Beth Ehemann (My Review)
As many of you already know, I adored this and its sequel, Room For More!!!! It was a sweet, swoony, heart-melting, romance, perfectly balanced with just enough angst to keep me on my toes. The heroine is a single mom with two little twin girls, and the hero is a famous hockey player (but she doesn’t know that) and when a storm strands him at the Inn she runs with her mom and he has to stay a few days…. ok, and just get this — he calls her little girls his Twinkies!!! OMG *SWOON*
Make It A Double by Sawyer Bennett (My Review)
This was a really sweet book with a very unique twist to it. The hero had just spent the last 5 years in prison and the heroine was this really awesome girl who wanted to help him heal. It was just a really gorgeous, sweet, sexy romance and it had a really wonderful balance of an intriguing storyline, a SWOONY romance, crazy hot sex, but also really great character development, and a nicely paced relationship (no insta-love). Just my kind of read!!
Fragile Bonds by Sloan Johnson (My Review)
I wanted to read this book from the moment I heard about it. I’ll tell you what it’s about and you can see for yourself… The only man that Melanie had ever loved was the same man who broke her heart. One rash decision (not cheating) and a series of unfortunate circumstances broke them apart… Now, six years later, he’s married with a four-year-old little boy and his wife is dying with only a short time left to live so they bring in a nurse to care for her… and it’s Melanie!!
Fighting To Forget by JB Salsbury (My Review)
For any fans of “fighter” heroes, this is a book you should definitely check out! It’s a second chance story between a tattooed, pierced fighter with a heart wrenching past he couldn’t remember and a girl from his past who couldn’t forget him and was holding onto a secret that could change his life.
Note: this book can technically be read as a standalone if you want but there are two books that precede it in the series.
Unfixable by Tessa Bailey (My Review)
This was a fun, sexy, and light-hearted romance that kept a smile on my face from start to finish!! Honestly, it felt exactly like “reading” a romantic comedy movie — it had great banter, a hot hero, a snarky heroine, a little bit of drama thrown in and a happy ending. The heroine is a “sarcastic American girl” fresh off a bad breakup who goes to Ireland where she meets a “dark-haired, blue-eyed” famous race car driver “with a bad attitude that rivals her own”!!
Vital Sign by J.L. Mac (My Review)
This was a beautiful, emotional standalone romance about a woman whose husband dies and donates his organs. She spirals into misery but then searches for the people who benefitted from his death and… “The heart that once fell in love with her now resides in Alexander McBride’s chest.”
I really enjoyed the story! It was a low-angst read with no ‘bad guy’ and a lot of feels. I really liked the heroine, I missed her husband, and I totally fell for the new guy.
Deliver by Pam Godwin (My Review)
If you’re a fan of dark romance, Deliver is definitely a book you should add to your list!! It’s dangerous, suspenseful, erotic, and at it’s heart, it’s a love story. It definitely made me uncomfortable at times but that’s kind of what you should expect from a darker romance so really, in every way, this book delivered 😉 And it also had a cool twist to the captivity-theme where the woman was the captor!
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty (My Review)
Please note: this is not a romance. However, when you read this line from the blurb, I think you’ll understand why I just had to read it ➜ “Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret—something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive.”
Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher (My Review)
Please note: this is not a romance (but it is awesome!) ➜ When reclusive novelist Senna Richards wakes up on her thirty-third birthday, everything has changed. Caged behind an electrical fence, locked in a house in the middle of the snow, Senna is left to decode the clues to find out why she was taken. If she wants her freedom, she has to take a close look at her past. But, her past has a heartbeat…and her kidnapper is nowhere to be found. With her survival hanging by a thread, Senna soon realizes this is a game. A dangerous one. Only the truth can set her free.
