This book is a short, kind of fun, often frustrating, ever so slightly steamy (but in a very tame kind of way) read about childhood friends with unrequited feelings for each other who end up as best man/maid of honor at a wedding and are forced to share a cabin for the weekend forcing their feelings into the open.
I didn’t really connect with the characters. I found the story very rushed, Chase and Maddie weren’t very functional either as individuals or as a couple and I found their behavior quite predictable. There were no heart racing or emotional moments for me in this book. They both made a lot of stupid mistakes which I have very little patience for. But if you like ‘hate-to-love-each-other’ kind of relationships, then you might like it.
It had me smiling in the beginning and a little at the end but I found Chase and Maddie’s behavior in the middle quite frustrating. Chase has serious ‘I’m not good enough for her’ issues, a bit of a man-whoring past, but desperately wants to not screw up with her. Maddie has wanted him since she was a kid but always felt like he didn’t see her in any way other than a kid sister. This leads to a lot of miss – communication but, of course, an eventual HEA. Its a quick read – it took me about 2 hours total from start to finish.
