Kami B  ~ Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

R.K.  ~   In general, writing is just something I’ve always done because I love it.  Any time it does get difficult, that usual tells me that what I’m writing isn’t quite right, so I’ll go back and reassess what it is that’s bugging me.

Clista S  ~ Who is your James Cavendish? Do you have any particular actor/model in mind?
.
R.K.  ~   That is a very popular question!  I would say that James is a mix of people in my crazy head.    He doesn’t come from a specific model or actor for me.  But I will say that in fantasy world if I were to cast someone to play him in a movie, my pick at the moment is Travis Fimmel.  I like the way his face a mix of mean and pretty.  He can smile and still look a little diabolical to me.  I think that’s sexy as hell.
        Grace L – Did you know the ending of the story before you started writing it? And did you originally plan it as a trilogy?

R.K.  ~  I did know the ending of the story before I started writing.  Before I ever begin the actual writing, the story sort of bounces around in my head for awhile, and the ending is almost always one of the first things that I map out. 

And yes, I did know that it was a trilogy.  James and Bianca have too many issues for one book!:)
        Audrie C  ~ I love Stephen! What an amazing best friend character!…do you think you might do a novella just about him??

R.K.  ~  Oh, Stephan.  I love him, too.  I have a ridiculous amount of affection for my fictional characters.  I can’t say if I will write a novella for Stephan at the moment.  What I can say is that he is getting a lot of page time in book 3, and that a few scenes will even give you a peak into his head 🙂
Rachel T  ~ How often do you write and do you listen to music while doing so?

R.K. ~  At the moment I am writing for several hours a day to get book 3 out.  I am hopelessly behind on television and books at the moment.  Every spare second is going into the final installment in the series.  And I always always always listen to music when I’m writing.  Every scene in every book I write has a soundtrack in my head.
Trisha R  ~  What inspired you to write this story? Where/when did you get the idea?

R.K. ~   I’ve been wanting to write a juicy flight attendant romance for years.  The inspiration for the story comes from several different places.  Some of the darker aspects of the story were inspired from some real events in my family.  The BDSM is a personal fascination of mine.  Some very close friends in my life are immersed in that scene, and rather than the maybe more normal reaction to recoil from it, my reaction was, ‘That’s sexy.  What makes a person do that?’   The series became a combination of all of that to me.
Stacy M  ~ What was the first scene you wrote?

R.K. ~  The first scene I wrote was actually Chapter 1, but i’d been daydreaming about the characters for months, and I felt like I knew them well before I began the actual writing process.
Jasmine K  ~ Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
.
R.K. ~  My advice would be to write the kinds of books that you love to read, and to always mix in some real elements from your own life.  And if you ever find yourself short on inspiration, travel.
Michelle J  ~  I adored both books!! Any news on paperbacks? I’d love to have copies of these on my shelves!

R.K. ~  I have no definite answers for that right now, but I am working on it, and I will announce when they are available in paperback!

R.K. ~  Yes!  I was a first class flight attendant for years!  I have always had a passion for travel, and before I had kids I did it for a living.  So much of the books comes from that experience, and the crazy mix of people that I met doing it.

Louisa M    ~   Did you know from the beginning that Kellan would be the one that Kiera would choose?

S.C.  ~   No, I actually wasn’t sure who she was going to end up with at first. And my original ending to the story didn’t have her ending up with either boy. 🙂

Kelly Q   ~    Is there a chance you will be writing these books from Kellan’s POV??? PLEASE?!?

S.C.  ~    I’ve considered writing the first book through Kellan’s eyes. We’ll see if I do though. He’s so beloved, I wouldn’t want to mess that up.
         Lisa C   ~    Did you originally plan this as a trilogy or did it start out as a standalone to you that you decided to take further?
.

S.C.  ~ Hmmm, well, I planned a trilogy for the original ending (and I even wrote a sequel for it), but when I changed the ending, I was content to leave it as a standalone. I got a lot of requests for more though, and, just for my own amusement, I started adding onto it. I wasn’t planning on releasing it, but then I wrote the omelet scene. It cracked me up, and I decided to share it, because I didn’t want to be the only one laughing.

        Denise – Do you already have plans for what you will write after Reckless or are you waiting until after it is released to think about that?

S.C.  ~   I have a backlog of older stories that I’ll be publishing in the next year or two, but while I’m doing that I’ll be busy writing the sequels to Conversion: The Next Generation and Not a Chance.
Kristen M   ~    Do you write every day? If so, how long usually? And with or without music?
.
S.C. ~  I try to write every day. I’ve been surprisingly busy lately, so I haven’t been able to write as much as I wish I could. I typically write 3-4 hours a day, and almost always with music. Unless the music takes me somewhere I don’t want to be—say inside Kellan’s head when I’m writing about other characters. 😉
 Holly K   ~    Your books have such a wonderful flow to them!! Do you ever get ‘stuck’ while writing? And if so, what are your tricks for getting back on track?

S.C. ~   I do get stuck sometimes. When that happens, I’ll reread older sections, look through my notes, or step away from it for a while. I find that doing monotonous things helps clear my head, so I’ll go for a walk or clean the house. Because of that, you would think my house was really, really clean…but no, not really. 😉

This is Book 2 in the Conversion trilogy – a paranormal vampire romance series. I really loved the first book, Conversion. This series should be read in order though as it is one continuing story so be sure to read Book #1 first.

 

GIRL OF LIES by Charles Sheehan Miles — New Release

This is the first book in a new spin-off of The Thompson Sisters series. It is suggested to read the three Thompson Sisters books first because the characters are connected but it is not necessary. Thompson books: Just Remember To Breathe (Read My Review), A Song For Julia and The Last Hour.

 

PIECES FOR YOU by Genna Rulon — New Release

This is technically Book 2 in the For You series but it can be read as a standalone (although readers of the series advise to read book #1 first). I haven’t read it but the blurb calls it “a captivating journey of survival, healing, and sacrifice—teeming with honesty, humor, unexpected twists, and love’s unsurpassed endurance.”

 

OUT OF TURN by Tiffany Snow — New Release

I’ve heard SO many good things about this romantic suspense series! And I have also heard that it has one of the best written love triangles ever in it. The feedback from readers on this series has been incredible!! Here’s the reading order: #1 No Turning Back, #1.5 Turn On A Dime, #2 Turn To Me, #3 Turning Point, #4 Out Of Turn.

 

JANE’S MELODY by Ryan Winfield — Re-Release

I just noticed that this book is available for purchase again (it’s now been rereleased by Simon & Schuster). The ratings are HIGH and several readers have recommended it to me. I really love the tagline ➜ “What boundaries would you cross for true love?” 

 

PERFECT LIE by Teresa Mummert — New Release

This new release has me curious! Many readers are saying that the ending just blew them away and that has me wondering!! I haven’t read any of this author’s books before but this just might end up being the first one. The blurb has me intrigued… so many secrets!

 

VENDETTA by Autumn Karr & Sienna Lane — New Release

This is one of my favorite books of 2013 and it’s on SALE!!! It made me feel with every part of my heart and I truly mean feel. It was everything — amazing, breathraking, heartbreaking, original, intense. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a standalone romance. Read my review.

 

FIGHTING REDEMPTION by Kate McCarthy — New Release + Top Recommendation

This  was 5++ stars for me!! A beautiful, powerful, and emotionally charged romance about a solider who has always loved this one girl and even after he’s deployed “no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go.” It’s a standalone & one of my favs of the year now! REVIVING IZABEL by JA Redmerski — New Release

Reviving Izabel is the highly anticipated sequel to Killing Sarai by J. A. Redmerski. If you haven’t read Book 1 yet, here is the link. These books are not standalones and must be read in order.

OMG!! A LITTLE TOO FAR by Lise Desrochers — $0.99 Sale

This was a really cute double taboo love triangle with just the right amount of angst, swoony guys and just the ending I’d hoped for. I’m not usually a love triangle fan but this was an exception! Read my Review.

 

LIKE GRAVITY by Julie Johnson — $0.99 Sale

This is a standalone romantic suspense novel with a twist and the hero is a lead singer in a band! I haven’t read it yet but a reader recommended it today me and I just checked and it’s on SALE (limited time)

 

FINDING JOY by Jenni Moen — New Release

This is the sequel to Remembering Joy (which I’m reading right now!) and tells the conclusion to that story. The two books are not standalones though and must be read in order but there is a fully resolved ending in the second book 🙂

The night started the way it always did, the guys and me meeting up at the bar before a gig. A crowd of girls sat at the table next to us as we horribly tried pick-up line after pick-up line on them. We all made a game out of it, because really, after a show every girl that had said no to us would be on their knees in front of us later, mouthing how great we were. Every girl.  Any girl.  No problem.  I had yet to meet a girl who knew the word no.  Not when the guys from my band, Mad World, were around anyway.

Tucker, who wasnʼt even in the band was the best at the game, but thatʼs because he just had the worst pick up lines in the world, I think he had a book somewhere where he wrote them all down.

“Great legs, what time do they open?” Tucker called out to the girls laughing.

Chuckling, I chimed in, “If I flip a coin, what are the chances of me getting head?” The girls made disgusted faces in our direction, shaking their heads in disbelief.

Alex, my rhythm guitarist and keyboardist, elbowed me in the gut to listen to his line. “Hey, how about you sit on my face and let me eat my way to your heart?”  He shoved his tongue between two of his fingers and wiggled it towards the girls sexually.  I laughed harder.

Brayden, my bassist, snorted like a pig and beer shot right out of his nose. Howls of laughter rang out from our table. Then he called over, “I got the F-C-K. All I need is U!”

Ethan my drummer just laughed along with us, he never participated in our immature games. Heʼd be the first one of us divorced with 2.5 kids and a dog.
 Probably a freaking cat too.  Freaking pussy.

Tucker rolled another out, “If this bar is a meat market, you must be the prime rib!”
That caused the girls to stand up and move to another table farther away from us idiots. All except one light haired girl who flipped me her middle finger, but stayed firmly planted to her seat, crooking her lips into a sexy little smile.  Easy.

I got up from my seat and leaned over her table, right in front of her face, “I would love to,” I whispered. I held my hand out for her, and just like I thought she would, she grabbed it with sweaty palms.

I took her into one of the back rooms.  It was as good a place as any to get laid, most of the time I was too uninspired by the easy women that opened up their legs for me to even bother to take them home.  And they were all easy.  I didn’t even have to look anymore, they just jumped on my arms after a show.  Let’s be honest, they jumped right on our dicks right after a show, no need to sugar coat it.  It is what it is.  Easy.

The girl walked right into the storage closet lifted her skirt to her waist and bent over, ready.  She wasn’t even wearing any fucking underwear. Holy shit.  Maybe I should use two condoms with this one if she’s that fucking easy.  She leaned over a shelf full of cases of beer, stretched her chin over her shoulder and smiled, “My names Crystal.”  Now she tells me?

“Hey, hi.  Nice to, uh, meet you,” I laughed.  What the hell did I care what her name was?  I was never going to use it.

She turned her head around spreading her legs wider, “God I can’t wait to tell all my girlfriends I hooked up with the lead singer from Mad World.  Those girls I was sitting with just now, I just work with them, they don’t know how famous you are.”  And there it was, the reason my cock got so much action, I was Shane Maxton, lead singer of Mad World.  Famous.  Yeah.  No one knew who the hell I really was.

A cute blonde haired, green-eyed woman sits closely with Shane Maxton, the lead singer of NYC’s hottest Indie band, Mad World.  The woman looks over to the rock star adoringly and you can just tell they have a special relationship.“Hey, it’s nice to meet everybody here on AestasBookBlog.  Thanks for meeting us at Boozer’s for a drink and letting us take part in this December’s Author-a-thon-22 Authors in 22 days.  I’m Christine.”

Shane lifts his beer to his lips, but before he drinks from the bottle his mouth eases into a sexy smoldering smile. “And I’m Shane,” he says. His voice is low and raspy, wrapping itself around you. He’s wearing a tight black sleeveless shirt with an Avenged Sevenfold logo spread across his muscular chest.  The lean toned muscles of his tattooed arms catch your eye, and you can feel a small tingle down deep in the pit of your stomach.  Shane cocks his head and gives a sideways smile, “We’re here to tell you anything you want to know.”

Voices scream over each other asking questions.

“Hi I’m Oli.  What are you working now on? And when do we get to read it?”

“I’m Denise D.  Shane, when will Christine finish your POV. I can’t wait to find out what goes on inside your head!”

“Jennifer S. here, is there going to be a third book in this series? Or are planning to start something new?”

A pair of black lacy panties fly into Shane’s lap.  Christine looks down at them mortified; Shane laughs. Flinging the panties over his shoulder, he runs one of his perfectly sculpted hands through his short dark hair and smiles.  His beautiful blue eyes look towards Christine, “I’ll answer all these questions.”  She looks like she is physically melting.  He chuckles at her response and turns back to everyone’s waiting questions.  “Right now, Chris is working on the whole love story between Grace and I from my point of view.  There’s a shit load of stuff that I went through that I felt I needed to tell, you know?  So I sort of annoyed Christine with it until she started writing it down.  I like to keep her up at night…you know…running ideas through her head.” He winks and the muscles of his chest flex, making heat spike through your veins.  He reaches out his hand and ruffles Christine’s long hair making her frown at him.  “She’s also been playing with another story, that she refuses to let me know about.  But I always peek at her notes and crap when she’s not looking.  It’s another contemporary romance without any paranormal elements to it.”

Christine elbows him.  Shane barely notices.

Shane sips at his beer and continues, “So far my book, the one from my point of view, is titled Scars and Songs.  A hot chick on facebook helped us name it, Tracy.  The thing is – Christine is only half way through writing it.  Chris and her family got caught up in that bitch of a hurricane Sandy on October 29 and lost half of their house and most of their belongings so she’s been trying to write and rebuild her and her family’s lives.  I try and help as much as I can, you know…take her mind off of all the shit she’s been going through.  But she doesn’t have a release date yet for my book.  After she finishes, it still has to go through her editor.  Because let’s be real, she sucks at grammar.”

“Hi guys, I’m Angie L.  Christine, do you always know what you’re going to write each day before you start or do you plan the story as you go?”

“When I was working on Fall From Grace, I just sat down and wrote, never really planning anything.  I would have tons of little yellow sticky notes all over my house and computer with ideas written on them.  For Saving Grace, I started with an outline, and it wasn’t so chaotic.  So now I try to plan things out before I sit and write.”

“My name is Vickie J.  Your books are amazing! Who/what inspired you to first start writing?”

“I’m one of those people who are inspired by everything and everyone.  But when it comes to writing the people that inspire me the most are all of the people who are taking part in the 22 Authors in 22 days, and any Indie author who has the guts to put themselves out there and share their stories.”

“Thank you for loving my books.  Yes, I listen to music when I write all the time, it puts me in the middle of the scene I’m writing and surrounds me with the feelings I’m trying to express.  On my blog, http://christinezolendz.blogspot.com is the soundtrack I had on repeat while I wrote.  There was Avenged Sevenfold (I’m a huge fan), Seether, and Evanescence just to name a few.  Then there is the song Mad World from the movie Donnie Darko that I played constantly throughout every sad scene.  Everyone in my house would moan that I played it too much.  But it was the song I started writing the series with, it just matched the loneliness that Grace felt on earth for thousands of years searching for her soul mate.”

Wendy R  ~  When writing the character of Luke, did you have an actor/model in mind?
Kristen  ~  WHEN I WROTE THE BOOK, I PICTURED A SLIGHTY OLDER ALEX PETTYFER AS LUKE. HE HAS THAT MESSY BLONDE HAIR, SQUARE JAW LINE, SEXY EYES.

Clista S  ~  Did you already have the next story in mind as you were writing the first book?
Kristen  ~  NOT UNTIL I GOT TO THE SCENE WITH JULES’ WHOLE FAMILY. THEN IT OCCURED TO ME THAT I COULD REALLY MAKE THIS A FANTASTIC FAMILY SAGA, AND SPEND A GREAT DEAL OF TIME GETTING TO KNOW THIS FAMILY.

Rachelle G  ~  Who is your favorite music artist? And do you listen to music when you write?
     Kristen  ~  I’VE BEEN LISTENING TO A LOT OF MAROON5 LATELY, AS WELL AS PINK AND DAUGHTRY. I DO LISTEN TO MUSIC WHILE I WRITE, AND IT VARIES DEPENDING ON THE SCENE THAT I’M CURRENTLY WORKING ON.

   Tara M  ~  Do you write your stories sequentially? Follow an outline? Or just allow the characters to direct the flow of the story?
 Kristen  ~  I DO WRITE SEQUENTIALLY. I’M VERY MUCH A LINEAR WRITER. I DON’T FOLLOW AN OUTLINE PER SE, AND THE CHARACTERS SURPRISE ME ALL THE TIME, BUT I KNOW WHERE I WANT THE STORY TO GO, AND HOW I’M GOING TO LEAD INTO THE NEXT BOOK.
        Jessica J  ~  How many books are planned for the Seattle series?
Kristen  ~  THERE ARE SEVEN FULL LENGTH BOOKS AND ONE NOVELLA PLANNED FOR THE SERIES.
Erica M  ~  Luke, are you ever going to act again or just produce?
Kristen  ~  LUKE DOESN’T PLAN TO ACT ANYMORE, BUT HE IS PASSIONATE ABOUT THE FILM INDUSTRY AND WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE. THERE WILL BE MORE MOVIE PREMIERES IN THE UPCOMING BOOKS!
Tara T   ~  Luke, if not for the press, would you still like to be in front of the camera instead of behind?
Kristen  ~  IF NOT FOR THE PRESS AND THE PAPPARAZZI, LUKE WOULD PROBABLY STILL BE ACTING, BUT THEN HE WOULDN’T HAVE MET NATALIE, WOULD HE? AND THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC.

JESSICA SORENSEN

I live in Wyoming with my husband and three kids. I’m the author of the Fallen Star Series, the Darkness Falls Series, the Death Collectors Series, and the New York Times and USA Today Best Seller, The Secret of Ella and Micha, a New Adult Contemporary novel.

I love writing and reading almost anything that is YA. Some of my favorite authors are Cassandra Clare, Sarah Dessen, Becca Fitzpatrick, Abbi Glines, Tammara Webber, Jamie McGuire and Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m also an avid watcher of TV series The Vampire Diaries and of Modern Family.

I absolutely love music. When I’m writing, 9 out of 10 times I have music blaring in the background. My list of favorite songs could go on and on, since I have a very broad taste in music. But a few of my favorite bands are Chevelle, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Brand New, Death Cab for Cutie, Flight 409, Nirvana, and I’m going to stop there or else I’ll keep going on forever.

I don’t really have any favorite movies, but a few that I could watch over and over again are Anywhere but Here, Juno, Pride and Prejudice, The Hangover, and Bad Teacher.

(4.5 stars!)

A beautiful friends-to-lovers story about a girl from a broken home and the bad boy who made her feel loved and safe again.

I shuck off my shirt, climb onto the bed, and cover my body over her. Her fingers trace my stomach muscles and the black cursive font of my tattoo on my ribs.

“I’ll always be with you, inside and out,” she reads it. “Through hard times and helpless ones, through love, through doubt.”

I lean back a little, bring her hand to my mouth, and gently kiss her palm. “You know I wrote that for you.”

“No you didn’t.” Her eyelids flutter as I breathe on the sensitive spot of her wrist. “You wrote that when you were like sixteen.”

“Actually fifteen.” I release her hand and lie down on top of her, supporting my weight up with my arms.  “I remember sitting down to write it and the only inspiration I had was your sad eyes—I couldn’t get them out of my head.”

She pouts out her lip. “I don’t have sad eyes, do I?”

I brush my finger along her cheekbone and underneath one of her green eyes. “You did. All the time. And sometimes you still do.”

“You look sad sometimes too,” she tells me with her auburn hair spread out across the pillow. “But right now you look happy.”

“That’s because I am happy.” I start singing her the lyrics and it makes her grin broaden.

“There we go,” I say and kiss her deeply, nipping at her lip and tracing my tongue along the inside of her mouth.

She encloses her long legs around me and things turn heated. Threading my fingers though her hair, I caress her neck with my tongue until I know she’s going to have a hickey.  Her shoulder shudders upward from the touch of my breath and she giggles.

I put a small gap between us and look her in the eyes. “Does that tickle?”

She shakes her head with a solemn expression on her face. “No, not at all.”

I pinch her side playfully and she jerks sideways, attempting to roll out from under me.

“Please don’t.” She laughs, struggling for air. “Pretty please.”

I listen to her, because there’s something else I’m dying to do.  I begin to undress her, deliberately at first, but then my movements turn desperate and I end up ripping some of the buttons off her shirt.

Minutes later, our clothes are in a pile on the floor. As I stare into her eyes, I consider begging her to come with me on the road, but the moment is fleeting and I realize I just can’t do that to her.

Lauren S – Do you have a favorite place to write?

Jessica  ~   I do! It’s in my office where I’m surrounded by books, junk food, and a very well thought out playlist.

Erica M – Were there any particular actors you pictured when coming up with Ella and Micha?

Jessica  ~   I didn’t picture any beforehand, but afterward I thought Chace Crawford could be Micha and Emma Stone could be Ella.
     Anesha G – The growth between and blooming affection between both Ella and Micha was a joy to read, at it just flowed effortlessly. If there was any, what was most challenging about penning these two?

Jessica  ~  The hardest part was probably having Ella being so resistant to Micha. Honestly, I just wanted her to give into him the second she came home, but with Ella being the way she was, it wouldn’t have worked.

        Sara R – How many books do you have planned for this series? Or do you find that out as you go?

Jessica  ~  There will be three books in the series; The Secret of Ella and Micha, The Forever of Ella and Micha, and The Temptation of Lila and Ethan.
Kaitlin W – Do you write everyday? Do you have a preferred time of day or place to write?

Jessica  ~  I do write almost every day. I have a really hard time breaking away from it because I love writing so much.  My best writing time is at night, because it’s quiet and I’m not a morning person at all.
Jess T – I love your books! You have so many series out, do you ever work on more than one book at once?
.
Jessica  ~  I’ve tried a couple of times to write multiple stories at the same time, but it doesn’t work very well.  It gets confusing and the voices tend to take on the same tone. So for the most part I focus on one story at a time.
