NEW FAVORITE – NOW LIVE: I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting (My Review)
WOOHOOOOOO!!!! It’s finally live! I read this romantic comedy that’s described as “a love story about flipping houses, taking risks, and landing that special someone who’s move-in ready” in one sitting and it was so fun!! The hero and heroine were complete opposites — the hero was sweet, swoony, and a little cocky, while the heroine was smart and sassy! While most of the book was filled with light-hearted fun flirty banter and romance, I also really liked that towards the end, it developed a bit of an angsty edge… This was a GREAT READ and it you’re looking for a romance that’ll make you smile, definitely grab your copy because it’s JUST WENT LIVE!! Oh, and it can totally standalone!

Book Review — I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting

SHE’S GOT CURB APPEAL. HE’S A FIXER UPPER…

I Flipping Love You was another romantic comedy winner from Helena Hunting! I’ve loved many of her books over the years. I think the first one I read by her was about four years ago and ever since then I’ve always been excited for her new releases so I couldn’t resist diving into this one.

“Rian Sutter grew up with the finer things in life. Spending summers in the Hamptons was a normal occurrence for her until her parents lost everything years ago. Now Rian and her sister are getting their life, and finances, back on track through real estate. Not only do they buy and sell houses to the rich and famous but they finally have the capital to flip their very own beachfront property. But when she catches the attention of a sexy stranger who snaps up every house from under her, all bets are off…

Pierce Whitfield doesn’t normally demo kitchens, install dry wall, or tear apart a beautiful woman’s dreams. He’s just a down-on-his-luck lawyer who needed a break from the city and agreed to help his brother work on a few homes in the Hamptons. When he first meets Rian, the attraction is undeniable. But when they start competing for the same pieces of prime real estate, the early sparks turn into full-blown fireworks. Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance—without burning down the house?”

This book can be read as a complete standalone. You don’t need to read anything before or after this book unless you want to, but it is part of a series of slightly interconnected standalones. To explain further, the hero of this book is brothers with the heroine from Hooking Up (my review). And the hero from Hooking Up is brothers with the hero from Shacking Up (my review). I’ve read them all and they’re all great romcom recommendations, but they’re very well structured so that you can genuinely pick and choose whichever one/ones you want to read in any order.

In this book, a hilarious case of mistaken identity (her twin dinged his car, but he didn’t know there were two of her) put their relationship off to a rocky start involving a shopping cart to the groin, a dinged Tesla, and some choice words flung back and forth. But needless to say that once things got straightened out, Rian and Pierce were faced with the unavoidable fact that there was some pretty intense chemistry between them that they’d be fools to ignore…

“You have to admit, it’s interesting the way we keep running into each other lately…”
“And every single one of those interactions has been embarrassing for me.”
“I would say entertaining rather than embarrassing. Now, why don’t we start fresh, and this time I’ll try not to come off as a complete asshole, and we can pretend I haven’t asked you out and you haven’t said no half a dozen times, or accused me of trying to blackmail you into having sex with me.” I grin as I hold out my hand. “I’m Pierce.”

On paper, they were complete opposites with little in common, but in real life their differences worked in their favor because together they sparked. They say ‘opposites attract’ and with them that was exactly the case — their differences made them perfect for each other and I thoroughly enjoyed all the banter that ensued.

Pierce was a sweet and swoony hero with a bit of a cocky side to him, but overall he really was a pretty reasonable and genuinely nice guy who was refreshingly level headed, not to mention he also had a rather flirty and dirt side too that brought some added heat to this romance.

“Morning.” His deep, raspy sleep voice draws my gaze back to him. His one visible eye is barely a slit.
“Hi.”
He smirks… “I cuddled the fuck out of you all night.”
I laugh. “That you did.”
“You know what that means, don’t you?” He wraps his arm around me and pulls me closer. “It means we’re dating.”
I tip my chin up so I can see his face. His hair is a mess and he has pillow lines on his cheek. “How do you figure?”
“We had a sleepover and we spooned pretty much the entire night. Plus, we had a bath together, and I’ve taken care of you and all your bug bits, so that totally qualifies as dating behavior.”
… “I suppose that makes logical sense.”
His sleep-heavy eyes crinkle at the corners. “So you agree that we’re dating?”
“You didn’t really give me much of an opportunity to disagree, did you?”
“Since when does that stop you?” His lips meet my temple. “You know what we should do to celebrate this milestone in our relationship?”
“What’s that?” I throw my leg over his…
“We should have Naked Sunday.”

Rian was a smart, savvy, and sassy heroine who spoke her mind and had her life completely in order. She’d fallen on hard times but didn’t rely on anyone to help her and I loved her can-do attitude towards life.

“Do you have any idea how sexy that is?”
“You think it’s sexy that I can do math in my head?”
“Yes. You’re gorgeous, outspoken, and intelligent. It’s a hard-on-inducing trifecta.”

While the majority of this book was filled with light-hearted, fun flirty banter and romance, I also really liked that towards the end, it developped a bit of an angsty edge as their family secrets came out and it became a race to right wrongs before things went to far… And the ending had just the heart-warming note I was hoping for!

“I’m one hundred percent in love with you, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do to change that.”

If you’re looking for a romance that’ll make you smile, try this!

Book Review — Fighting For Everything by Laura Kaye

This was a beautiful, intense friends-to-lovers romance that I read in one sitting and loved! It featured a swoony, broken former Marine hero who felt lost in the world he returned home to and a strong heroine who was determined to help her best friend since childhood heal but who she never expected to fall head over heels in love with.

“You’re everything to me…”
For a moment, silence rang loudly in the room, and then Noah’s heart was thundering so hard that the beat of his pulse in his ears was all he could hear. Everything? He was everything to her? How then fuck could that be, when he felt like so much… nothing?

After being discharged from the military, Noah struggled to adjust back to civilian life. The nightmares of what he’d survived and the friends he violently lost haunted him each day, and while his body wasn’t left physically scarred, the panic attacks resulting from his traumatic brain injury still affected his every day life leaving him depressed and desperate to reclaim any sense of the normality he’d once had. It was killing him to be surrounded by people who, no matter how much they cared for him, just didn’t understand the pain he was going through.

Sometimes, he really fucking wished he’d had a limb blown off, or that the injuries to the left side of his face hadn’t healed so well. Then at least he’d have an obvious reason for struggling to readjust to civilian life. Then people would look at him and just know what his fucking problem was.

The one bright spot in his life was his best friend. Every since childhood, she’d been there for him — a true kindred spirit. But their relationship had always been platonic before now — neither one of them every really seeing the other in a romantic light. However, for both of them, that was quickly beginning to change.

The attraction between them was strong and intense and neither one of them could deny it and soon they faced the reality that one way or another, their relationship would never be the same…

Kristina started at Noah’s back and wondered what the hell just happened.
The distant, sullen man who couldn’t be bothered to be interested in or spend five minutes with her was not the Noah she’d known most of her life. Tonight wasn’t the first time since he’d come home from the Marines that he’d acted weird around her. And weirdness was something they’d never had between them, not in all the years she’d known him, not when they’d confessed things to one another they would never otherwise say…
For a long moment, she stood at the edge of the party and debated, and then she decided — she wasn’t letting it go this time.
Her gut told her Noah needed her.

I think it’s a delicate balance to be able to make the whole “we can’t be more than friends or it’ll ruin everything” deal be believable in a story, but in this case I really found it did work. I’ll admit I was a wee bit annoyed with them at times, but on the other hand I could understand where they were coming from especially given the depth of their history and how sacred their friendship was to both of them. It was understandably precious to both of them.

Kristina got him like no one else did. She knew what he needed and how to make him feel better without pressing him to talk, without worrying over him, without making him feel like he couldn’t take care of himself. And even though that meant she realized that he wasn’t doing that damn great, the way she’d chosen to deal with it meant a lot to him. This. This was why Noah could never chance harming his relationship with Kristina.

This story was a lot hotter than I was expecting! As mentioned, Noah and Kristina shared an intense and undeniable attraction and that chemistry exploded over no matter how good their intensions to stay just friends were. I actually really loved the way they just couldn’t seem to stop themselves from being together.

“You’re the one I want. You’re the one I’ve always wanted. You’re my best friend, but you’re also the man I’ve fallen in love with.”

Overall, this was a great read. It was a very fast read for me — definitely a one-sitting story and one that I just devoured without stopping. It reads a standalone (complete with epilogue), but there will be more interconnected standalones in this series following this book that focus on other side characters/couples introduced in this book. It’s also written in third person, but from alternating POVs.

If you’re looking for something sexy but full of heart to read, check this out!

Book Review — Worth The Risk by K. Bromberg

SQUEEEEEEE!! OMG! I read this awesome new book in one sitting and LOVE LOVE LOVED it!! It had ALL THE SWOON. ALL THE SEXY. ALL THE SWEETNESS!!!! And just the most amazingly heart-felt romance!!! It wasn’t really a “second chance” romance but it kinda felt like one and it had FEEEEEELS!!! The hero is a single dad and an real-life professional HERO with a little kid who will MELT YOUR HEART!!! It’s a bit of a second chance story… not specifically the romance, but the hero and heroine do share a history from their high school days, so they had a lot of things to unpack and explore between them. I absolutely adored this book and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!!

So the story starts with Sidney being given one last chance to prove to her father that she deserved to be the editor-in-chief of his fashion magazine, and she was determined not to let him down and earn her spot… but was thrown out of her element when he challenged her to first revive a dying family magazine and bring it back to popularity.

Hot dads were the answer to all her problems.

A contest to find the hottest dads for the country to swoon over lead her right to Grayson Malone’s doorstep. He was the perfect candidate. Hunky, handsome, an amazing dad, and a real bonefide real life hero. But it was just her luck that they shared a history together… and he wanted absolutely nothing to do with her, her magazine, or her contest.

To make matters worse, she’d once been friends with his son’s mother and if there was anything he’d learned it was not to make the same mistake twice.

But the more time he spent around her, the more he realized that not only had she changed a lot, but she’d changed into someone he was slowly falling in love with…

This was one of those books that just felt like a winner from the first few pages. The pacing was on point, the writing was strong, I cared about the story and characters, and the story had all the elements I love to read about. — It was hot, sweet, sexy, with just the right additions of angst, emotion, and humor to round out the story.

“Strangely enough, each life we saved, saved me a bit too.
I could still rescue people.
I could still be the best damn father I could be.”

Grayson was all Alpha and pure swoon material, with a touch of grouchiness, a natural protective side, and of course he was an amazing father who was completely devoted to his son. And let’s be honest, few things are swoonier!

Sidney was strong and smart, but I especially like that she’d really turned her life around. It takes a lot for someone to recognize their flaws and take measures to improve on them so I have to give her credit for that.

And little Luke was just the sweeeeetest kid ever. Every time he asked Grayson to find him a mom broke my heart a little. He didn’t understand why his mother didn’t want him — how could he — and Grayson did everything in his power to protect him from the truth.

I loved the way this story evolved and worked itself out. I also really appreciated that there were understandable mistakes, but not any stupid drama. And some of the scenes were seriously just so so heart-warming!

Over many years, I’ve really come to love K Bromberg’s books and each time she writes a new one, I’m excited to try it out. You can read this book as a complete standalone. The hero though is brothers with the heroes from previous standalones in this series so you can choose to read them all in release order (see bottom of review for details), or just pick and choose the ones you want to read. Either way you can’t go wrong and you won’t be confused at all. So whether you’re new to this author or a longtime fan, you’ll be just fine to dive right into this book.

This book is definitely one of my new top favorites and I highly recommend it to any romance reader looking for a wonderful new read!!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! OMG!!!! I read this AWESOME new book in one sitting and LOVE LOVE LOOOOVED it!!! It had ALL THE SWOON. ALL THE SEXY. ALL THE SWEETNESS!!!! And just the most amazingly heart-felt romance!!! It wasn’t really a “second chance” romance but it kinda felt like one and it had FEEEEEELS!!! The hero is a single dad and an real-life professional HERO with a little kid who will MELT YOUR HEART!!! It’s a bit of a second chance story… not specifically the romance, but the hero and heroine do share a history from their high school days, so they had a lot of things to unpack and explore between them. I absolutely adored this book and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone looking for a GORGEOUS NEW READ!!!! It can standalone and it’s LIVE so be sure to grab a copy!!!! 😀
