Here’s a quick recap of a few of the latest new releases, sales, news & recommendations.

SPECIAL NEW RELEASES

   

• If Forever Comes by A.L. Jackson — This is the highly-anticipated sequel to Take This Regret and tells the final chapter of Christian and Elizabeth’s story. Be sure to read the first book, Take This Regret (Read my review), before as this is a direct continuation of that story.

• Stinger by Mia Sheridan — This is the latest New Adult Romance Standalone release from the author of Leo & Leo’s Chance. While it continues that series, the story/characters are not connected to the rest of the series and you do NOT have to read any other books first.

• Simple Perfection by Abbi Glines — This is book #5 in the Rosemary Beach series and is the conclusion of Woods and Della’s part of the story. This series must be read in the following order: Fallen Too Far, Never Too Far, Twisted Perfection, Forever Too Far, and then this book.

• Unattainable by Madeline Sheehan — As part of a special deal with her readers, this book was released early! This is the third book in a gritty Motorcycle Club/biker romance series. I haven’t read them yet but the first two books in the series are Undeniable and Unbeautifully.

• Safe With Me by Kristen Proby —  This is book #5 in the With Me In Seattle series. Each book can be read as a standalone although they are all interconnected. The previous books in the series are: Come Away With Me, Fight With Me, Play With Me, and Rock With Me.

RECENT $0.99 SALES – new sales since the last post

  

• $0.99 sale — Keep Me Still by Casey Quinn.  I haven’t read this yet but the blurb looks so good!! It’s a New Adult romance that can be read as a standalone but there will be more coming in the series.

• $0.99 sale — Inky (The Leaves #1) by JB Harnett. I haven’t read this either but have had it rec’d to me a few times. I was holding off on posting because it has a giant cliffhanger, but since the sequel, Cole, was just released, I’m going to take a closer look now!

• $0.99 sale — The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window by Kristy Moseley. A sweet standalone romance about a girl who lives in an abusive home and the boy who sneaks in her bedroom window every night for 8 years to comfort her. Read my review.

• $0.99 sale — Playing With Her Heart by Lauren Blakely. I’ve heard lots of good things about this book and it has VERY high ratings!! It’s “a sizzling and addictive story of a woman with a broken past and the man who can’t fight his attraction to her…” Note: This is part of a series but each book is about a different couple and can be read on it’s own as a standalone.

• $0.99 sale – Axel by Harper Sloan. If you’re a fan of Kristen Ashley, you’ll love this one! It’s a badass Alpha male second-chance romance standalone. Read my review. And also, the next book in the series (telling Cage’s story) was just released: Cage (Read my review).

• $0.99 sale — Ruin by Rachel Van Dyken. This book made me laugh, cry & swoon. Everyone should read it!! It’s a standalone New Adult romance with a HEA. Read my review. “I can tell you have a good heart… because the minute I met you, I wanted to fight for it.”

RANDOM RECOMMENDATIONS

• Don’t Make Me Beautiful by Elle Casey. This was my latest 5-star read. It was a beautiful, deeply touching story (inspired by true events) with a powerful message, a to-die-for hero and a strong heroine. I absolutely loved it!! Read my review.

• Surviving Raine by Shay Savage. If you’re looking for something completely different than the norm, try this one! It’s about two people stranded on a life raft in the middle of the ocean struggling to survive and dealing with their growing feelings for each other. Read my review.

• In The Fields by Willow Aster. A beautiful, heart-wrenching forbidden love story that took place in 1971. This one was so different than anything I’d read before! I loved it! Read my review.

• A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers.  A really cute double taboo love triangle with just the right amount of angst, two swoony guys, and exactly the ending I’d hoped for. Read my review.

BOOK NEWS

• Fixed On You by Laurelin Paige is now available on paperback!! I absolutely loved this book! Any fans of the Crossfire series looking for something with the same feeling should try this! Read my review.

• Freebie alert!! The first book of this YA paranormal dystopian series is free. I’d heard it’s amazing and has a beautiful forbidden romance, lots of action and an Alpha vampire hottie. It’s a completed series with a HEA. Here are the links:

• Found In You (Fixed #2) by Laurelin Paige. <– THIS ONE!!!!! OMG I’m so excited that it’s live early!! This is the sequel to Fixed On You and is a must read series for any fans of dominant billionaires and passionate romance!!! The books must be read in order though. If you loved Crossfire, you’ll love these!! Here are my reviews: Book #1 Review and Book #2 Review.

• The Wager by Rachel Van Dyken. This is book #2 in The Bet series which are both romantic comedy standalones. I’ve heard good things about them! Here is Book #1, The Bet.  Each book is about a different brother.

• When It Rains by Lisa De Jong. This is a very well written, highly emotional standalone with a love triangle. Read my review.

• Carter Reed by Tijan. This is a standalone mafia romance on sale for $0.99 right now!

• Willing Captive by Belle Aurora. I have not read this yet but it’s a standalone and the blurb looks very intriguing!

• Promise Me Light by Paige Weaver. This is the conclusion to the story that started in Promise Me Darkness ($0.99 sale). I haven’t read them yet but they’re on my TBR. I’ve heard great things about them… Bad boy… post-apocalyptic world… I’m curious!!

• Strange Case by Lauren Stewart. This is the final book in the Hyde series. It’s an urban fantasy series with a hero who I hear is baaaaaad!!!! I’m excited to read them! Book #1, Hyde, is on sale for $0.99.

It’s an urban fantasy series and “it includes lots of cursing, descriptive sex, biting sarcasm, and dark themes. HYDE was inspired by Stevenson’s novella but is not a retelling, in part because he and this author have very different definitions of ‘bad boy’.” This is the first of the series, the next 2 books are: Jekyll and Strange Case.

• Finders Keepers (Lost & Found #3) by Nicole Williams. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this series! Sweet romance & hot cowboys. I can’t wait to read them! Book #1 is Lost & Found, Book #2 is Near & Far. They must be read in order.

• Tell Me (One Night With Sole Regret #6) by Olivia Cunning. This is the latest book is this super hot rock star series. While it is a series, each book can still be read as a standalone. They’re on my reading list! In case you want to read them in order though, here’s it is: #1 Try Me, #2 Tempt Me, #3 Take Me, #4 Touch Me, #5 Tie Me, #6 Tell Me.

• Promise Me Light by Paige Weaver. This is the conclusion to the story that started in Promise Me Darkness (on $0.99 sale right now). I haven’t read them yet but they’re on my TBR. It’s a post-apocalyptic New Adult romance.

• Patch Up by Stephanie Witter. This is a brand new release with very few reviews out but I love the sound of it. You can check out the blurb but it seems like it’s about a girl who’se had a rough go of things recently who quite literally collide with her tall, handsome, tattooed TA and “For the first time in a long time, she wants to try and open up to this guy whose dark, intense eyes can’t hide his own pain despite his dazzling smile getting to her.”

• Dazzled by Jane Harvey-Berrick. I haven’t read this yet but it’s a Hollywood heartthrob/girl next door romance from the author of The Education of Sebastian and Caroline which I really enjoyed.

• Broken and Screwed 2 by Tijan. This is the sequel to Broken and Screwed (which is on sale for $0.99) and completes that story. I haven’t read it yet but it’s been recommended to me several times.

• Give Me Strength by Kate McCarthy. This is the second book in a series of interconnected standalones that I’ve heard good things about. The first book, Give Me Love, is on sale for $0.99.

• The Other C-Word by MK Schiller. Ok, this one is from last month but I’ve had this rec’ed to me a few times by readers recently so I’m adding it here. The blurb says that fans of The Secret of Ella and Micha will enjoy it. “Can she overcome her consuming desire for him? Can he make her comfortable with the other C-word…commitment?”

• Perfect Regret by A. Meredith Walters. This is a spin-off of Bad Rep but can also be read as a standalone. I haven’t read these yet but I loved this author’s Find You In The Dark series (5 stars for me)  and can’t wait to try these too!! ♥

• Cage (Corps Security #2) by Harper Sloan. Badass Alpha male fans, this one is for you!!! Be sure to read the first book in the series, Axel, first though! Each book is a standalone but they are interconnected. Read my review.

• In The Fields by Willow Aster. This is rating very highly and seems completely different than anything I’d ever read. It’s a forbidden, interracial romance that takes place in 1971.

• The Boots My Mother Gave Me by Brooklyn James. Technically this is an older standalone romance I’ve had on my TBR for a while now but it since it just got a new cover (and an included epilogue), PLUS it’s on sale for $1.99 so I’m including it in the new releases list! From the blurb: a fast-paced story about a girl who is tough enough to survive and tender enough to learn to trust in love.

• $0.99 — In The Stillness by Andrea Randall. This is one of my most favorite books ever!! I can’t tell you enough how much I LOVE IT!!!!  It’s a painfully heartbreaking, emotionally charged and beautifully crafted story of love, loss and healing. It’s a standalone second-chance romance and is one of the few books I’ve ever given 6 stars to! Read my review.

• $1.99 — Losing It by Cora Carmack. If you are looking for a shorter, sweet, slightly fluffy read that’ll make you swoon, this is a great choice! Read my review.

When she meets the hero, he’s the first guy to make her want to disregard that rule and so she makes a bet that he can’t go just one week without kissing her… teehee! Oh, and the hero has a secret! Looks good!

• $0.99 — Give Me Love by Kate McCarthy. I’ve heard very good things about this! It’s a standalone but there is a new book in the series that was just released called Give Me Strength. Each book is about a different couple. From the blurb: Jared (the hero) is in a business that ‘consults’ in dangerous hostage and kidnapping situations, makes an enemy who’s determined to enact revenge. When his enemy puts Evie in his sights, Jared not only has a fight on his hands to make her his own, but also to keep her alive.

• $0.99 — Playing For Keeps by R.L. Mathewson. If you’re looking for something hilarious and cute and haven’t yet read this, then you are missing out!! This is an enemies-to-lovers standalone romance that I guarantee will have you laughing!! Plus, it’s only $0.99 ♥

• $0.99 — Wait For You by J. Lynn. A sweet, funny, touching standalone with an hero who will make you SWOON!! One of my favorites!! Read my review.

• $0.99 — Broken and Screwed (The BS Series #1) by Tijan. I’ve had this author’s books recommended to me several times by readers and this series rates very highly. The first has a cliffhanger but the second one has a resolved ending.

• $0.99 — Fall From Grace and Saving Grace by Christine Zolendz. This is a completed rock star romance duet with a paranormal twist for only $0.99 each!! Also, there is an alternate POV book telling the the hero, Shane’s, perspective for $1.50 called Scars and Songs. Read my reviews.

 

SERIES SALES

The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. This is a must-read series for fans of billionaires, scorching hot romance and tortured heroes!! One of my top favorite 6-star series!! Gideon Cross melts me! The first two are $7.99 and the third is currently $4.99.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. If you are a fan of vampires (and I mean badass Alpha vampires) then this series is an absolute must read! Also, if you are new to the genre, this would be the perfect series to start out with. Each book is a standalone with a HEA and follows a different couple so while you don’t have to read them in one fell swoop, you do have to read them in order because there is an overall story ARC that builds in the background. These books are hot, erotic, kickass and addictive. Highly recommended!!

Regular price is $7.99 each but they are currently $5.99 each for a limited time.

 

SECOND-CHANCE STANDALONE ROMANCE RECOMMENDATIONS 

• Play It Safe by Kristen Ashley. One of the few books on my 6-star book list, this is a must-read for fans of second-chance romance (and Alpha cowboys). Also, if you’re new to Kristen Ashley books, this would be a great one to test the waters with. Plus, it’s a standalone so you get a fully resolved ending. One of my most favorite books!! ♥

• Take This Regret by A.L. Jackson. This is another one of the few books that made my 6-star book list. I highly recommended these for anyone who loves deeply emotional and absolutely beautiful second-chance romances. While this can be read as a standalone, there will be a sequel released on September 20th that tells the final chapter of this story. There is also a prequel, Lost To You, which should be read after this book (I recommend after instead of before because you will appreciate it much more if you are already familiar with the characters. But technically, either way works.

• The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred. This is a bit of a sale alert too because it’s one of my top favorite books and is only $1.49 right now! It’s a beautiful, intense second chance romance standalone. The hero and heroine meet when they are kids and by the end of the book are adults so you really get a deeply rooted, very strong connection between them. I LOVEDIT!! Everyone should read this book!! Earlier today, it was officially announced and confirmed by EL James that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson were cast in the roles of the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Universal Pictures and Focus Features’ upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation slated for release on August 1, 2014!!

Charles Matthew “Charlie” Hunnam (born 10 April 1980) is a British actor and screenwriter. He is perhaps best known for his roles as Nathan Maloney in the Channel 4 drama Queer as Folk, Lloyd Haythe in the Fox comedy series Undeclared, Pete Dunham in the film Green Street Hooligans, Jackson “Jax” Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy, and Raleigh Becket in the film Pacific Rim. Please bear in mind that unless I have a review posted these are not official “recommendations” as I have not yet read them but rather these are books that look good to me and I’m interested in reading so hopefully you’ll be able to maybe find something new to read here too!

Also, since I read based on my mood of the moment, I may not necessarily read everything on this list! I also add and delete books from here all the time and am very much of a ‘last minute’ reader so I rarely know exactly what I’m going to read next until about five minutes before I actually start the book. My “full” reading list is considerably longer than this but, at the moment, these are the books sitting at the top of my list!

And finally, given how many indie books get released all the time, it’s quite likely that one might come out suddenly that just shoots to the top of my list so again, this is just a general selection of the books I’d like to get to in the near future.

• Breach (Breach #1) by K.I. Lynn. I’ve been told this one has a very tortured hero and that pretty much sold me. Plus, book #2 just came out and does not have a cliffhanger so this got bumped WAY up the pile! **EDIT: Finished this and loved it! Read my review.

• My Unexpected Forever (Beaumont #2) by Heidi McLaughlin. This is the standalone sequel to Forever My Girl and My Everything and the author suggest reading it only after both of those. I’ve read FMG so I’m eager to jump into this one. The blurb sounds incredible!!!! Second chance romances are my absolute favorite! **EDIT: Finished this! What a sweet ending! Read my review.

• Don’t Make Me Beautiful by Elle Casey. Quote from my review: “A deeply touching, beautiful and inspiring story with a powerful message about the strength of survival and the healing power of love. It’s both heart breaking and heart warming with a strong heroine, a to-die-for hero, and a story that will stay with you long after you finish reading!”  5 stars!! Read my review.

• All Of You by Christina Lee. What’s this? A tattooed hero who is not only “not” a manwhore, but is actually a VIRGIN??! Holy unicorn! This I must read!

• Keep Me Still by Casey Quinn.  The blurb on this one looks so good and I’ve heard the hero is very swoony!! It’s a New Adult romance that can be read as a standalone but there will be more coming in the series.

• A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers. Holy double taboo!! Seriously, we’re talking stepbrother and a deacon!! “Have you ever gone just a little too far? Lexie Banks has… She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.”  <— this is my next book!!

• Cross My Heart by Katie Klein. This is an older one from my TBR that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now. It’s a bad boy romance and apparently there’s a twist that no one sees coming so I’m very, very intrigued!!

• What I Didn’t Say by Keary Taylor. Hmmm this one caught my eye because of how different the premise sounded. It’s about a guy who loses his ability to speak in a car accident but was never able to tell the girl he’s been in love with for years how he felt… it’s a second-chance romance standalone.

• The Boots My Mother Gave Me by Brooklyn James. Technically this is an older standalone romance I’ve had on my TBR for a while now but it since it just got a new cover (and an included epilogue) so I’m bumping it back up my list. From the blurb: a fast-paced story about a girl who is tough enough to survive and tender enough to learn to trust in love. 

• In The Fields by Willow Aster. This is rating very highly and seems completely different than anything I’d ever read. It’s a forbidden, interracial romance that takes place in 1971.

• Jane’s Melody by Ryan Winfield. This is an unconventional standalone romance that’s gotten crazy high ratings! From the blurb: “A touching love story that will have you equally tantalized and in tears, Jane’s Melody follows a forty-year-old woman on a romantic journey of rediscovery after years of struggling alone.

• Suicide Watch by Kelley York. This book looks beautiful and heavy – read the blurb, you’ll understand what I mean. It’s far from my typical style of read and my gut feeling says that everyone doesn’t ride off into the sunset but some journeys aren’t about that and this is one I want to read.

• Everything I’ve Never Had by Lynetta Halat. This one is rating quite well and looks really good! From the blurb: One night. One song. One kiss. The perfect trifecta to unleash the floodgates of a forbidden attraction between the widow and her husband’s bad boy cousin, Adrian.

• Rule by Jay Crownover. I have a soft spot for bad boys… add tattoos to the mix and I’m pretty much a puddle of goo so I’m looking forward to this one. Oh, and it’s a standalone 🙂

• Just Remember To Breathe (Thompson Sisters #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles. This series has been on my TBR for ages. Readers are just raving about these books! They’re interconnected standalones and are guaranteed to made you cry. I love those kinds of books!! So I can’t wait to read all 3!

• Promise Me Darkness by Paige Weaver. Ok I’m a little fuzzy on the details ‘cuz I didn’t want spoilers but this seems to be a bad boy meets good girl story set in some sort of post-disaster scenario… It’s another one that I added to my list due to recommendations from other readers so I’m intrigued by the setting and premise and it’s also got some very high ratings! I’ve been told though that the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger but the next book will be out on Sept 24th and the blurb says it’s the “conclusion” to their love story.

• Unbreak Me by Lexi Ryan. I’ve had this NA romance suggested to me a few times so I’m bumping it back up my list. “If you’re broken, I’ll fix you…If you shatter, I’ll find you…”

• Broken and Screwed by Tijan. I’ve had this author’s books recommended to me several times by readers and this series rates very highly. The first has a cliffhanger but the second one has a resolved ending.

• Covet by Tracey Garvis Graves. This just sounds amazing and it’s from one of my most favorite authors (same one who wrote On The Island). Release date is September 17, 2013. ** EDIT: Finished this too. Read my review & enter the giveaway.

• Broken by Megan Hart. I’ve been wanting to read more of her books ever since I read Dirty so this is an older one that I’ve had on my TBR for a while that I’m looking forward to. Megan Hart writes very deep but unconventional romance stories and sometimes, you just need something ‘different’.

• Because of Low by Abbi Glines. I just love Abbi’s books so I’m looking forward to trying this one out! Here’s the series reading order.

• Wanderlust by Skye Warren. Ok so I’m on the fence about this one. I hear it is d.a.r.k. and not for everyone… it’s like the people who love it, really love it and the people who don’t feel strongly as well. I do like dark books though so I’m curious to try it out sometime.

• Lost & Found (Emi Lost and Found #1) by Lori Otto. This series is on many readers’ most favorite list. It’s a completed trilogy and I hear it’s an ‘atypical romance’. I’ve been told by the people who have read it that it’s one of the most emotional series they’ve read so that peaked my curiosity! I’ve heard that the first one doesn’t have a happy ending but the last one does.

• By A Thread by R.L. Griffin. I hear this has a dark subject matter and a lot of twists and turns and really sucks you into the story. It’s the first of a trilogy (second book will be out in August).

• Kiss This by Hadley Quinn. It’s about a girl who’s ex was killed and since then has promised herself she wouldn’t kiss anyone she didn’t love. When she meets the hero, he’s the first guy to make her want to disregard that rule and so she makes a bet not to kiss him for a week…. oh, and the hero has a secret! Looks good!

• Providence (Providence #1) by Jamie McGuire. This is another older one from my TBR that I’ve been wanting to read for a while. It’s a paranormal trilogy from the author of Beautiful Disaster and I’ve heard such amazing things about it! I haven’t read a paranormal book in a while so this is at the top of that list. All 3 books are currently available for purchase and the series has a HEA. Reading order:  Providence. Requiem. Eden.

• Lost and Found (Lost & Found #1) by Nicole Williams. I can’t wait to read this one! It’s “a story about a troubled girl, a good guy, and one summer that will forever change them both.”Plus, Book #2 “Near and Far” was just released as well!

• The Tied Man by Tabitha McGowan. This is a very “dark” book but sometimes that’s just what I want. A friend of mine read this recently and gave it 5 stars! But warning, there are instances of non-consentual sex in it and some of the scenes are extremely graphic. In this book though, it’s the guy who is held captive and “In a dark, modern twist to an age-old story, Lilith Bresson proves that sometimes it’s the princess who needs to become the rescuer.”

• Untraceable by Lindsay Delagair. This is an older one from my reading list that I’ve been meaning to read for a while. It’s the first book of a completed trilogy and I love the premise from the blurb. It’s about a wealthy heiress who is in hiding at a high school and “when two new guys enroll. Both guys are gorgeous, and both are trying to win her over. The only problem is that one of them has a million dollar contract to put a bullet in her. When her pure and innocent heart is offered to him, will this cold and empty hitman fall, or will he remain untouchable?” See? Intriguing, huh?

• Almost by Anne Eliot. I’ve had this recommended to me several times as a great standalone. I’ve been told it’s a little humorous, a little sad, and a lot swoony. Apparently I need to meet this hero so… it’s on my list oh and, he has a secret!! Teehee, I’m always drawn to those 😉

• Good (Too Good #1) by S. Walden. Holy taboo!! This is a well written, rebellious student/teacher romance that defied rules and crossed lines!! Bold. Daring. Forbidden! It’s the first of a 2-part series. Read my review.

• Nocturne by Andrea Randall and Charles Sheehan Miles. This is a standalone romance and is next on my reading list! It sounds amazing and these are some very talented authors!

• Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage. A cute, swoony, heartwarming standalone New Adult romance. The hero is a gigolo and the heroine is determined to be his friend no matter what. I loved it! Read my review.  “He could be my soul mate…except for one teeny tiny glitch. He’s a gigolo. Boy, do I know how to pick them.”

• Wethering The Storm (The Storm #2) by Samantha Towle. The sequel to one of my most favorite rock star romances, The Mighty Storm. This is the last book centering on Jake and Tru’s story and has a HEA.

• Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy #2) by Karina Halle. What a wild ride this series is! Be sure to read them in order! First is Sins & Needles, then the prequel On Every Street, then this book Shooting Scars, and the last book will be out next month called Bold Tricks.

• Arsen: A Broken Love Story by Mia Asher. I have never ever felt as conflicted over a book as I did with this one. It was a raw, compelling, strong debut novel that took the reader through the beautiful and the ugly side of love. Read my review.

• Beyond Pain (Beyond #3) by Kit Rocha.  I haven’t read them yet but they’re on my list and are set in a dark, gritty, futuristic world but I hear they are H.O.T.!!! Book #1 is Beyond Shame, Book #2 is Beyond Control.

• Sometimes It Lasts (Sea Breeze #5) by Abbi Glines. This continues the story of Eva and Cage from While It Lasts. For the full reading order of this series, click here.

• Origin (Lux #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The next installement in the Lux series. This is a mature Young Adult paranormal romance series that recently scored a movie deal! Book #1 is Obsidian. I loved it!

• Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino. This was a sweet, heartbreaking and romantic story that kept me up reading all night! It’s a standalone romance with a HEA and has now been re-released by Atria with a new cover. Read my review.

• Vain by Fisher Amelie. This is actually a paperback re-release now that the gorgeous new cover has been launched. I loved this book. It was a beautiful, unique YA romance. Read my review.
