I get asked this a lot.. like, a lot a lot, sooo I figured I’d put together a post with my recommended reading orders for her series.
There is no “right” way to read them, and I know that many of you may have read them in a different order but this is just how I personally would recommend going about reading them 🙂
For Kristen Ashley books, I’d say definitely read all the books in one series, then move on to the next as opposed to skipping around different series.
A little background on her books if you haven’t read or heard of them before…
Kristen Ashley writes the most ALPHA men you’ll ever read. They are hot, badass, protective, possessive, caring, and sexy as hell… Yes, they’re flawed, but I swear, they’ll make your heart RACE!! All her stories have HEAs and most have utterly gorgeous epilogues (she is the queen of heart-melting, tear-educing, beautifully happy endings).
Honestly, I could just go on and on and on about how amazingly incredible her books are but really, you should just find out for yourselves 🙂
** NOTE ** see bottom of post for an explanation of the interrelations between all the series.

k… here are the interrelations between the series…
Some of the Rock Chick men show up in the Dream Man series BUT I read the Dream Man series first and didn’t have any confusion or anything since they were really just little cameos and not super relevant to the story line and I was very happy with having read the Dream Man series first.
So personally, I’d recommend reading the Dream Man series before the Rock Chick series… but, it’s really up to you.
After you read the Dream Man series though, you can definitely start the Chaos series before reading Rock Chick because the first Chaos book (Own The Wind) ties in directly to the last Dream Man book (Motorcycle Man) but you shouldn’t just read Motorcycle Man first because that book ties in with the 3 books before it so basically, you should read all the Dream Man series books and THEN read the Chaos series and THEN go on to the Rock Chick series.
OR you can also read them like this: Dream Man, then Rock Chick, then Chaos.
Rock Chick is a more light-hearted and fun series though so that might be a factor in helping you decide in case that kind of story is more your style.
Definitely (in my opinion) do not read the Colorado Mountain series until you’ve read the Rock Chick series because there is a majorly important cameo in one of the later books by a character from the RC series that really “makes” the book and you totally won’t understand the full impact of that finale without having already been well acquainted with them (teehee, I won’t say any more than that). That being said, there are tons of readers who started KA with the Colorado Mountain series, so you CAN technically just dive in but if you’re sitting here trying to map out a way to read ALL Kristen Ashley books, then definitely read the Colorado Mountain series AFTER the Rock Chick series.
The Burg series is AMAZING! Like WOW AMAZING. I read it later than the other series though because for some stupid reason I thought I wouldn’t like it as much (proves I’m a huge idiot! but I digress). Book 1 has a cameo from the guy who is gonna be the hero of book 5 of the Colorado Mountain series so that’s why I think it should be read AFTER the CM series cuz you’ll get an intro to him here…
And then, you really should read the Unfinished Hero books, BUT if you’re going to read them in order, I would NOT recommend starting with them because they are really different from KA’s other books but still, as with all KA reads, they are impossible not to love. Alsp, just FYI, “Creed” is by far my favorite book from that series. In fact, it’s one of my Top 5 favorite KA books ever and you CAN read it as a complete standalone.
I’d definitely recommend reading the Fantasyland series AFTER some of the other KA series. It’s wonderful but the world is brutal and there are a lot of cultural differences to overcome so just go into them with open minds.
I haven’t yet read the Ghosts and Reincarnation series so I can’t say anything about them but since they are written by the amazing KA, I can only assume that they will also be fantabulous!
Again, I recognize that many of you will have read these books in a different order and I’m not trying to criticize anyone else’s way of reading or say that my way is the best way… this is just my personal recommendation, nothing more 🙂
If you have any questions about the series, please comment below and I’ll get back to you 🙂
HAPPY READING!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this reading list. I haven’t read any of Kristen Ashley’s books but many are on my TBR list and now I know where to start! (-:’
Lee says
Thanks for taking the time to compile this list Aesta. have you been reading my mind? This is exactly what i needed! I have read the rock chicks and unfinished hero’s and was wondering what to read next. I have bookmarked this so I an refer to it later. 🙂
Tracy says
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! for putting this together. I’ve read all the same ones you have . I haven’t dove into the Fantasy Land series yet, but I have read Penmort Castle in the Ghost & Reincarnation series. I didn’t love it as must as the others, but it is still worth reading. I keep telling my friends they need to read KA’s books, now I can send them the link for your post so they can get the low down on where to start. Thank you again!!
Michelle Bushnell says
Thank you for organizing this. I find it very helpful. I was always going back to your reviews to figure out the order of the Rock Chick books! I have read the Rock Chick books, the Burg series and The Unfinished Heroes series.
Ready to move on to another. This will help me figure out what to read next!
Aestas says
Awww you guys are so welcome!! I really hope it helps! Please feel free to share it around with anyone who you are pimping the books out to 🙂
Monica says
Hi! Loved your list. I would highly recommend the G&R series, I’m just finishing the last one, for some reason (sounds like your same ´Burg reason ..LOL) I thought I wouldn’t like it.. I was so WRONG! I especially liked the 4th one, “Fairytale Come Alive”.. the epi.. no words! Go read it! Don’t miss out!
ralphsmum says
Kristen Ashley is AMAZING. I am grateful every day for self-publishing or we never would have got to read her incredible novels. This is list is really well thought out – I totally agree with the list – especially with waiting to read the Unfinished Heroes and the Three series. I think you can appreciate the differences in these ones from her other work if you start of with something more “classic” Kristen Ashley like Rock Chicks or Dream Man.
I look forward to your review on The Golden Dynasty – that one blew my mind 🙂 Awesome post!
Toni Marie says
Kristen Ashley is by far my most favorite novel. I stalk her page daily to see if she has updated for new releases. Most of her novels I’ve read twice. My favorites by far are Rock Chick Regret and Revenge and Mystery Man but they’re only my top favorites by mere millimeters in my scale of ultimate novels. She has a way of writing and coming up with the most sexiest men ever.
lorraine m says
Two of my favorite series :
The Three Series and Unfinished Heros Series!
I’m gonna have to check out the Rock Chick Series
kisha says
I read rock chicks first because rock chick was recommended to me but I’m soo happy the28 th we get raid of the unfinished hero series. Then April 2 nd we get Shy and Tab the first in the new Chaos series
Dee McGee says
Thank you so much for posting a reading order. I’m really enjoying Kristen Ashley’s writing. I don’t know why it took me so long to read her stuff.
Shy says
I almost read all of these books except for Raid and Play It Safe.
Hmmm.. I wonder why Play It Safe didn’t appear in Good Reads.
Well off to read now.
Thanks for the list. 🙂
Pammy says
Am totally hooked on k.a books just started the burge series hooked already why has it taken me so long to find the fab author my life and family have taken a back seat since falling in love with her work please keep them coming x
Jasmine says
Thanks heaps for writing that all out, I am looking forward to reading Kristen Ashley’s books. I was just wondering if these are available in paperbacks? I’ve been looking on Amazon & BookDepository and there aren’t any available. I really want to read them in your suggested order and prefer hardcopy opposed to on the kindle. Thanks =) look forward to each of your reviews
Tays says
Didn’t see this post here, would have made my life very easy, hehe. I read The Gamble first, but didn’t continue with the series (I plan to change that, LOL). Then I read Fantasyland, because I wanted something kind of fantastical (hehe), and I knew she was good. Next I read Dream Man series (freaking loved it, A LOT), followed by Chaos 1. Than, while waiting for Fire Inside, I read The ‘Burg (loved it too!) and now reading Chaos 2. So it’s all kind of jumbled. What should I read next, Aestas?
Aestas says
Tayr – oh my! LOL wow that is a jumble!
Ok – my advice is to finish Fire Inside, and then go on to the Rock Chick Series… followed by the Colorado Mountain series (this series should ONLY be read after all the Rock Chick books!) … and then go on to the Burg books 🙂 Either that or read the Burg books all first, then all the Rock Chicks, then all the Colorado Mountains… either way works 🙂
and then after those, read the Unfinished Heroes series and the Threes series (if you’re into paranormals)
Dee McGee says
I just wanted to say that this page has become my go to list as I read every single KA book. Thank you so much for this, Aestas. This post truly shows how much you love Kristen Ashley’s writing. You turned me into a fan because of it. ♥
Aestas says
aww YAY! I’m so happy to hear that Dee! 😀 That makes me a happy blogger! You are so welcome!
Petra says
I started reading Kristen Ashley with Knight from the Unfinished Hero series and it is much different than her other books. I almost didn’t pick up another one. I’m so glad I did. And, the Unfinished Hero’s series has become some of my favorite books of all her series.
Aestas says
I love Creed!
Tangie Weitzman says
Thank you so much. You are the bomb!
Aestas says
Welcome!!
DG says
Ahhhh! Thank you for your recommended reading order!! I love urban fantasy (vampires, werewolves, ghosts, etc.) and probably saw her books pop up for the paranormal ones; the used bookstore I go to didn’t have any of those and only had Mystery Man! Imagine how happy I was reading that one…I laugh a lot because this woman writes how my head talks, it’s amazing. I voraciously read this book til I fell asleep with it on my chest the first night, then didn’t do anything the next day until I knew what was going to happen…damn the phones, damn the laundry, damn the dogs (well, of course not, I was just on a roll). I LOVE her writing and now can’t wait to keep going. I love it when I find an author I love that already has many books that I can read instead of having to wait a year! (I know, it’s cheating). I am so glad that I read MM first as you suggested! You rock, thank you for taking that time because there are girls like me out there that found you had just what I was looking for! Now on to the next!!
Aestas says
You’re so welcome!!
barbara miranda says
is there more books coming out on the chaos series
Aestas says
Yes 🙂
nanayna says
heyy thanky you for the list and you review, i love kristen ashley so much, but who doesn’t 😉
annie says
Thanks for making the reading orders so accessible! Right on with the notes too 🙂
Having read through most of k.a.’s us-based books now I am into the third of the ghosts & reincarnations series, and unfortunately I have a question. Did k.a. actually write these? They are not at all in her usual style. Obviously they are written with the British tops in mind, edited by a Brit, but they seem to lack her personality, the characters are far less engaging, really now I’m just reading them in hopes that by the fourth or fifth book they pick up some life, but in general I have to say they fall pretty far short of her American set novels. Love to her nonetheless.
Just my two cents, don’t expect Rock Chick awesomeness from the G&A series.
annie says
Oops, I mean G&R series.
kacel says
reading all the books of kristen ashley somehow made me see things in a different light..and it feels good..im a housewife so its really nice to live in a dream once in a while…i may not have a my dream badass macho alpha man with me but at least i get to read them everyday…its something to look forward to…best part of my day…so i really recommend reading all the books…hope for some more…
Jo says
I love it when I find an author I love and Kristen Ashley is certainly that! I’m getting to end of her book list and already getting depressed about what I’m going to read next. What are your suggestions for my next author’s read and series with a similar writing style to Ms. Ashley? Reading her books are really an obsession.
Yean says
Hi Aestas! Thanks to your list, i got started on KA’s books and i am loving them! One question: at the end of Play It Safe, KA mentions a next book in the Plains of Colorado series starring Whit as the hero. Do you know if that ever got released? I did’t find it in her backlists. Many thanks!
Aestas says
No, all her available books are listed here. If she releases Whit’s book, I’ll definitely add it in. Happy reading 🙂
Kristina says
Hi. I actually wanna thank you because if it’s not for you i wouldn’t know about rock chick series and because i love those handsome alpha male badasses i looked through KA’s other books and yeeees! I totally love them. I think i know what you are talking about the “cameo” in CM series from RC because when i read the finale of that book i was like “OH MY GOD SHE IS!!!!!!!”
I am actually looking through your blog to find books to read again because i’m few books away from reading all KA’s books. Haha
Emma says
Question. Marcus and daisy, I first heard of them in the rock chick series then they came up in Raid. Do they appear for the first time in the dream man series? (Have only read Tara and tacks book in that series) just wondering because it seemed like they have their own storey that’s been told already somewhere.x
Stephanie says
Play It Safe is one of my all time favorites as well. I love the time span it covers and the way both characters grew. One of her best. I love all thing Kristen Ashley, although I haven’t read any of the paranormal books. I really need to do that.
I don’t disagree with your reading order so much as I think Rock Chicks could be first because none of the other characters from the other books, as far as I remember infiltrate that series, but the Rock Chicks all seem to mix into the others. I actually don’t know how or in what order any of the others should be read. I’ve read all RC, CM, Chaos, Burg, and Unfinished heroes, and now feel I need to go back and read all the Colorado Mountain series to know who from The Burg series is in it. It’s been so long.
Aestas says
I’ve had some readers find Rock Chick a little too ‘crazy’ to start with as an intro to her books. Mystery Man is a little more serious of a romance so just based on widespread feedback from readers, I find that they tend to LOVE the Rock Chick series more if they’ve read it after Dream Man. But reading RC first too works just as well. There’s genuinely no right or wrong way to do it. So many readers started with Rock Chick and became KA addicts for life so it’s all about what works for each person 😀
And I totally agree — they make great re-reads!
Christen says
This list is awesome! You are right about Kristen’s endings, they are like the icing on a cake!
Btw, your blog rocks! Out of all the ones that I have belonged to yours is the one I keep going to at least twice a week, thank you for all that you do!
Aestas says
Thank you so much!!! 😀
Kristiana says
You’re awesome!
I read my first KA around May/June last year. I know its late, since my friends recommended her books for years. But hey, it’s better late than never, right? Haha..
It was Motorcycle Man. Love Tack all the way. But when I was reading it, I realise that it part of series. And have correlation with another series (Rock Chick). So, I decided to read Rock Chick. Oh, how I love Indie and friends.
Since then, I became hookes with her books. And until December, I have read 5 of her series. I read ini this order : Rock Chick, Colorado Mountain, Dream Man, Chaos, and Unfinished Hero.
I planning to read The ‘Burg next. I wish my friends will give me her books for my gift :p
Terrill Rosado says
I had originally started with the Dream Man series, as well. After the first two Dream Man books and the first three Unfinished Heroes, I started following the suggested reading order that KA put on her website in combination with publishing dates. Now I have about 18 of her books under my belt, but I have a question since you’ve read the majority of them:
On KA’s Website, she writes, “The rest of my books can be read in whatever order you like, however, Heaven and Hell would be more fun to read after the Rock Chicks, the Colorado Mountain and The ‘Burg are consumed.” Heaven and Hell was published in the middle of all of those series so I’m curious as to why you think she says that? Are there cameos as there have been between the other series?
I had originally intended to read Heaven and Hell next, but I still have RC Revolution, the last three CM, and the last three ‘Burg books to complete.
Aestas says
It’s due to cameos that will have greater meaning if you’ve read other series. However, it could easily be read separately too. It’s really up to you. The cameo from the RC series is from Lee though so even without reading Revolution, you should be fine. 🙂
You “can” read her books in whatever order you like for sure. But the way I have them listed above is my recommendation for how to do so!
Jayme says
This is totally awesome! Thanks! I just read a Dream Men Series but definitely will return after another.
Aestas says
Welcome!! 🙂
Erika Mendoza says
I have read ALL her books. I make sure I preorder just to make sure I get her books in time. I have read them in the same order your read them. Mystery Man definitely got me hooked on Kristen Ashley. I have never been a fan of fantasy or paranormal books but I can never get enough of her books. She is just a great story teller that you get sucked in. Hope you guys enjoy her books as much as I have.
Laura Beaulaurier says
I am an absolute fan of Kristen Ashley. I own every one of her books, and am now reading through her series for the second time. They are just as good the second time around. I have them all on my Kindle, so I can re-read them whenever I want, they are at my fingertips. I read ALOT and read really fast, but her books still take me at least 2 and sometimes 3 days to get through (I do work and have a family so other things take priority sometimes, darn it all ) but they are wonderful books. I laugh, I cry and I just love all her books. Wish she had another 45 books out there for me to buy and read. Now I have to get them one at a time…darn it all. I think my absolute favorite of all her books… “Three Wishes”.. it is just a lovely heart wrenching, HEA book, but them I do love them all….. I guess you can say my favorite book of hers is the one I am currently reading or just finished reading…

Is there a story for Marcus and Daisy Sloan? I love Daisy and hope you have her and Marcus story written, where can I found it? Thank you for the great read!!
Aestas says
No, they don’t have a book. Sorry!
Jamie says
There is actually a novella for Daisy and Marcus. It’s called Rock Chick Reawakening.
Aestas says
It’s on the list above already 🙂
At the time that she asked the question, it was 2015 and that novella didn’t exist then.

This is so great!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do it! I’m still a Kristen Ashley virgin, and I was really wondering where I should start.
That helped a lot!
Aestas says
You’re so welcome!! 🙂
Lindsey says
I noticed Mathilda, SuperWitch is missing?
Aestas says
True. It’s the only one of her books I don’t include because it’s the first in a series written in 2011 and she a) hasn’t continues it and b) hasn’t given any indication that she will so I don’t want to lead a reader into a series that doesn’t have a conclusion. And also, it’s the only one of her books that isn’t that popular with readers (it’s one of the few I haven’t read myself so I can’t say personally) so for those reasons, I chose not to include it on this list.
